Ninetails Demon Unleashed Chapter 2: Make Your Move! Party In the Caves Of Zibet.
Later that evening, the gang had made it to Tails' workshop in the Mystic Ruins and Sonic and Ninetails were telling him what was going on.
"Yokai energy?" Tails shook his head. "I thought Eggman would have learned his lesson about relying on demons after Chaos and Metal Sonic..."
"What about the Time Eater?" Ninetails shrugged. "That seemed to work out for him to some extent."
"The WHAT?" Tails gave Ninetails a bewildered look.
"Oh right, I'm SIXTEEN in this. That's, like, around Sonic 2K6 time..." Ninetails shrugged.
"But then how do I know Kyzuka?" Roovie interjected. "I don't meet him until after Sonic Unleashed in For Want Of A Job, but I meet him when I'm sixteen going on seventeen."
"This whole thing has a very sketchy place in the timeline, in hindsight." Ninetails shrugged "Just roll with it and I'll work out the chronology later."
"You'd better!" Roovie huffed. "You aren't going to haze For Want Of A Job out of existence."
"Shut up, I won't erase your boyfriend from time." Ninetails rolled his eyes.
"Do you know what they're talking about?" Sonic whispered to Tails.
"Not a clue...I think Ninetails mentioned something about walls once, but I don't know..." Tails shrugged.
"Well you guys..." Tails interjected with Roovie and Ninetails. "Since Ninetails can sense demonic auras, we just need to wait until he senses a new one. When he does, I can try and pick up on it and then we can folow that source to where Eggman is getting the power."
"That's a good idea Tails." Sonic gave Tails a thumbs-up. "And until Eggman shows his face again..." Sonic kicked back on Tails' couch and flipped on the TV. "I guess I can kick back catch up on some TV."
"How selectively lazy of you Sonic..." Tails shrugged, joining him.
"I'm going to see if I feel anything..." Ninetails stepped out of Tails' workshop, jumping off from the top floor and walking to the very end of the runway. "Hmm..." Ninetails looked out at the sunset, staring intensely at the ocean. "I...don't feel anything...." Ninetails plopped down. "SHEESH! Just DO something already Eggman!" Ninetails let out a deep sigh as he watched the sun set. "That demon earlier....He mentioned that I reminded him of someone..." Ninetails looked down at his sheathed sword. "And it was this sword that tipped him off...." Ninetails held the sword in his lap, unsheathing and looking at the blade. "What mysteries are you holding?" Ninetails held the blade high in the air, watching as moon beams reflected off it. "Why...did you change earlier?" Ninetails shrugged. "BAH! I can't figure this out right now!" Ninetails fell back, looking up at the moon. "But I swear I'll get to the bottom of this mystery..." As he looked at the moon, his eyes grew heavy and he quickly fell asleep.

Ninetails dreamed he was floating in a dark void.
". . . D.e.s.t.i.n.y . . ." A mysterious voice boomed from everywhere. It was familiar, but alien at the same time.
"What destiny?"
". . . G.o.o.d . . . E.v.i.l . . ."
"What do you mean."
". . . .A.l.l . . . I.n . . . Y.o.u . . ."
"In me? What is this?"
". . . I...F.e.e.l...G.o.o.d . . ."
"...Okay, now you're just fucking with me."
". . . A.w.a.k.e.n . . . D.u.t.y . . ."
The void started to become lighter.
"Awaken to WHAT!? You won't tell me!"
"W.a.k.e...U.p..."
The void became solid white
"Wake up?"
"WAKE UP TO YOUR DESTINY!!!"
The white light of the void consumed him entirely

Ninetails jumped up out of his sleep "GYAAH!" It was early morning. Ninetails quickly looked around for danger. "What the hell was that!?" Ninetails stood and looked at the morning sun. "Wait...." Ninetails closed his eyes and tuned into the world around him. "....He's making his move..."

Ninetails, Roovie and Sonic all flew on top of the Tornado as Tails piloted it. It was currently headed in the direction of some canyons.
"Are you sure it's around here!?" Tails asked Ninetails over the roar of the engines. "Nobody's been to Megalo Canyon in centuries. What could Eggman be doing here?"
"I'm sure of it." Ninetails nodded. "The source of the demonic energy is located in these canyons....in the Caves Of Zibet." Ninetails looked down into the canyons, and the burning feeling in his heart returned. He let his hand rest on his sword, and he could feel echos of power go from his heart into the sword. "Get ready you guys...I have a feeling that we're entering the endgame of this plot..."

Tails set the Tornado down before the wide mouth of a cave.
"Here we are guys...The Cave Of Zibet...Within these caves is the source of the demonic power..."
"How...do you know this?" Tails gave Ninetails an interested look. "Nobody's known the precise whereabouts of the Cave Of Zibet since the feudal era centuries ago. How do you know this is it?"
"Let's just say I've got a strong feeling about this Tails." Ninetails smirked. "I know it's hard to believe, but my heart led me here." Ninetails looked down at his sword. "And the sword...it drew me here, too..." Ninetails looked into the caves. "I don't know what's up with this sword...or with me...but I feel in my heart that the solution to these mysteries lie within this cave..." Ninetails unsheathed his sword and pointed forward. "And I for one like to go with my heart!"
"That makes two of us!" Sonic nodded. "Lead the way!"
"Right, Let's go!" Ninetails ran into the cave.
"We're following a hunch...great..." Tails shrugged.
"As if we have any better leads." Roovie shrugged back at Tails as he followed Sonic and Ninetails in.

Hours passed as Ninetails led them into the caves. Ninetails led by instincts beyond his control, led by only his heart and unexplainable drive. As night began to fall, they came across a giant stone wall with words carved in them.
"What's this?" Tails looked up at the wall. "It's an ancient text...Looks Japanese in origin, but it's completely different than anything I've ever read..." Tails let out a deep sigh. "If only Knuckles were here..."
"It says..." Ninetails looked at the text. While at first it looked alien, he was slowly able to make sense of it. "...Beware foolish grave robbers....For you disturb the tomb of..." Ninetails trailed off.
"The tomb of who?" Sonic tapped his foot impatiently.
"I can't tell. The wall's been destroyed!" Ninetails inspected the end of the wall, finding a giant hole blasted out that led deeper into the cave. "This isn't natural...I'd say this wall was destroyed manually..and from the looks of it, very recently..."
"A clear lack of care for historical discoveries. Sound like anyone we know?" Roovie rolled his eyes.
"It doesn't take a genius to know not to mess with stuff like this..." Tails looked at the text again. "What would he want in this place?"
Before they could continue contenplation, demons began pouring out through the hole in the wall.
"SHIT, Looks like we won't have time to contenplate!" Ninetails unsheathed his sword.
"Let's go!" Sonic braced himself.
"Kombat Time!" Roovie smirked, cracking his knuckles.
"Let's teach that Eggman a lesson!" Tails got ready to fight as well.

The entire crew fought their way into the hidden temple, destroying demons along the way.
"Heyah!" Ninetails slashed through one demon. "Teriah!" Ninetails lunged at another. "And the spin cycle finish!" Ninetails lunged forward. "HEEEEEYAAAAH!" Ninetails went flying through a group of demons, slashing all of them up at blinding speed, slicing them to bits. "Hahaha! I'm getting pretty good with this sword!"
"Only a bit more!" Sonic called out. "I can see a light in the distance!"
"No problem! With my sword, I'm untouchable!" Ninetails looked at the sword. "Something about these demons is refurbishing the blade! Look at how new it looks now!" Ninetails looked deeply into the blade. It looked like it had just been forged. It shone brightly among the lit torches. "I knew there was..." The fire licked in the reflection of the blade. "More...to..." The blade seemed to be filling him with thoughts. "....it?" Ninetails mind was consumed by the thoughts. "It's....calling..." The thoughts turned into voices..."To....me..." The voices became one and made his mind feel lighter. "To...." His mind grew lighter and lighter... "Me......" As his mind became it's lightest, everything went black...And he fell on the spot.
"Ninetails!" Roovie grabbed Ninetails and tried to wake him back up. "Come on Ninetails, wake up!" Roovie tried shaking Ninetails, but nothing worked. "Guys, Ninetails is out cold!"
"Oh man, now what!?" Sonic continued fighting off demons.
"...He'll come to eventually." Roovie lifted Ninetails up and held him on his back. "Let's keep going!" Roovie ran forward, noting that Ninetails' grip on his sword was as tight as ever. "What happened to you?"

Ninetails felt himself floating again.
"Finally....you have awoken..." The voice spoke out.
"Awoken? What do you mean?" Ninetails looked around. It was as if he was rushing through an ancient castle.
"Awoken to the truth..." The voice grew closer.
Ninetails found himself sitting in a room. He could see a figure sitting across from him. "Who....are you?"
The figure came into focus. He was a cream colored fox with light brown eyes and long flowing hair. He looked to be middle aged, and he wore a kimono that bore a design that looked like licking flames. He carried the same sword as Ninetails. "I....am you..."
"...." Ninetails facepalmed. "You know, I hate these kinds of things."
The fox facepalemd just the same. "Me too."
