Am I the only artist who doesn’t have “fun” drawing?
Very often I see someone post something and say “I had fun drawing this”, or “I love drawing ___”, and the concept has always been very alien for me. Nothing about drawing is what I’d use the word “fun” to describe.

I use “fun” for gaming, or hanging with friends, or an especially engaging film. Drawing, though… it’s a means to an end, the result being the art.

I’d call it “satisfying” when art comes out the way I like it, and “rewarding” when people like it, but “fun”? That doesn’t make any sense.

Maybe it’s just me?

This is hilarious because i was wondering the exact same thing. Don't think I've had literal 'fun' drawing since I was a kid.

I think it's more that different people have different views on what's 'fun'. Personally I have 'fun' drawing when I get to experiment and just do something I enjoy doing, though I suppose part of that is when you get the satisfaction at the end it makes the effort put into getting to that point more appealing then when you're actually in the process of it. So maybe I'm just weird. XD

I sometimes sketch or scribble for 'fun', but for stuff i'm actually going to 'post' on here.. its more of a slow.. hobby sort of thing I do when i'm really bored.
It ends up more of a 'work' thing because I keep going over and over it, changing this and recoloring that or adding something else.
I usually get frustrated that it takes so long, and end up just saying "AAAH F$%$ IT, ITS DONE" and post it anyway, in a state of semi-sort-of-done-ness

yeah i never consider drawing fun, sometimes i do it to pass time or if i get inspired to draw something but i never look at it as a fun thing

I understand your point, but I don't draw. I write, and find the process fun, but maybe that's also just me.

You could learn a dozen other markettable skills that you don't enjoy just as easily, though

Or you could do something you do enjoy

Why would I learn a new one if I'm already good at this one?

And to learn to do the thing I think I'd enjoy, I'd have to go to college again, which I can't afford.

Why wouldn't you? You don't like doing what you're doing. That seems like a perfect reason to try something else.

I can't make you, obviously, it just sounds like you're thinking up excuses not to try.

I understand what you mean. I write in my spare time but there times the writing itself becomes frustrating because the words don't seem to match what I am trying to say. I know how I want a story to go but getting down all the words for all the scenes and dialog can make me want to pull my hair out. Just want the end product without all the work.
