On the Awesomenauts forum, you can create fan characters. I don't know if these can become characters if they're liked enough or not, but I wanted to make one myself.
Prince Clyde Equinox hails from the peaceful pacifistic planet of Unicornae. The Unicornians area proud, noble race who are scolars and diplomats. They healp to spread peace and understanding throughout the known universe.
Prince Clyde D. Equinox is none of these things. The Mocked as a child by the other diplomats kids for being too 'girly', Clyde swore to become the most masculine space hero the universe ever saw. Dedicating himself to the art of war and tactics, and training for years to peak physical form, he sought to prove himself by joining the Awesomenauts.
Despite this, the pampered Prince found pain quite intolerable. So he learned techniques to keep enemies at bay. Using his Prism Scepter to shoot powerful light energy beams (rainbows) to disorient his foes, he can escape quickly. If he's being chased, he kicks out with powerful back legs to knock them away. And using his latent magical power, he can surround himself and his allies with a force field that dampens kinetic energy, lessening damage. And after developing his race's normally underdeveloped wings, he can flap away and glide away to safety.
As for his stats, I don't know what would be best. I picture him as a swifter character, being an equine, but having lower HP, similar to Voltar's. More of an escapey support character.
Moves:
Attack: Prism Scepter
Using the heart-shaped prism crystal on his scepter, he can shoot beams in steady arc (Rainbow).
Upgrades:
Double Rainbow (what it mean?) - Shoots two beams, either in front, or in an arch around him it pointed upwards
Longer rainbow
Double arch - Smaller arch bounces off the end of the first
Confuse - small chance (10?%?) to confuse an enemy, either causing them to walk around out of the player's control, or hit their allies instead.
Damage speed
Wild Kick: Clyde kicks backwards to elude any pursers. Knockback.
Upgrades:
Increase damage
Speed burst. (Girly run) +2 secs extra speed
Exploding shoe: He loses a horseshoe which explodes on impact
Increase knockback
Stun?
Anti-Hate Shield: Using his innate mental powers, he creates a damage dampening shield around his teammates. It takes all of his concentration, so he cannot attack like this, and any stun, knockback, or other interrupt will stop the benefit.
Upgrades:
Slow?
Projectile deflection (percent chance, 5-10%?)
Increase damage protection
shield recovery speed
Jump:
Triple jumps with glide? He uses his wings from a burst of upward momentum then glides, helping to chase down pesky fliers.
I also imagine he talks a bit posh, like a snooty English gentleman. Or a bit like James from the English dub of Pokemon. Says stuff like 'How Tacky!' or 'Taste the Rainbow!'. I also imagine his hooves make clip-clop noises as he runs.
And before anyone accuses him of being...*ahem* fruity, let me introduce you to my friend Adam.

Remember, this game IS based on 80's cartoon sci-fi beat-um-up awesomeness, and if Equinox is girly, you just called He-man girly.
I totally picture Clyde in a He-man armor skin with a crustal sword instead of a scepter.

I did actually post this on the Awesomenauts Forum. He was pretty much UNIVERSALLY hated by everyone.
