Despite Halloween not being celebrated where they are from, and their mother's strict disapproval of the holiday and its traditions, Sofiya is obsessed with the idea of Halloween and anything macabre. This might come as a surprise, considering how bubbly and girly she is. Her mother fears that Sofiya's fascination with those things might become troublesome as she gets older, but for now, Sofiya can only beg her brother to dress up in spooky costumes with her and dream of trick or treating through a festive, spooky neighborhood, gathering as much candy as she can carry.
