I regale you with a story of an immortal thieving fox. One who has long since lost any feeling of his heart.
He lives to steal, the hunting thrill, both in objects and heavy hearts.

The poem was created by me. Image # 4 and i'll post it here as well

The Fox Who Kept the Dawn

When evening hastened the sun’s retreat
Moving so dusk could swallow day,
The keenly fox slips through silvered streets
Where candlelit windows paved his way.

His fur held glimmer along the spine
His sharpened smile of his wicked game;
Time that sought the crown of crimes
Could never catch the life he played.

Immortal he wore those past centuries
As light on him as a borrowed coat.
He knew the language of propensities
The secret trembling in one’s own throat.

He wooed Queens from behind their veils,
Swooned Princes beneath their unappealings
Kissing callused hands of farmhand Gael
Millennia to learn the music of their feelings.

He stole bright jewels from secretive hidings
Many soft vows from mouths that spoke them true;
He left at dawn with pockets full of shiny tidings
Removed from all the hearts he’d wandered through.

Then came an age of bright star-lit towers
Where technology became a pinnacle regale
The stars to be explored and more to rejoice
All while the fox, immortal still upon a trail

Exploration upon worlds far beyond his own sky
Many places strung out like lanterns in the deep
It’s there he beheld a stallion with brightest of white hides
Whose midnight mane crowned along with lonesome weeps

A prince of strength, reserve, yet of grand design
Even silence bowed its promised heads upon his steps;
Planets bent beneath his unmeasurably proud banners
Stars kept watch over him and his lonesome bed.

He had the worlds’ obedience, its splendours, its wonders
A throne that circled the golden of Saturn’s rings,
Thousand gardens and galas under crowded glass,
A home that pays homage of a hundred kings.

It was upon a gala held where the Fox stood aside
Looking for a heart he could sway upon a night
His eyes met the gaze of the prince staring in surprise
Both questioning why, just why, are they in delight?

He took the slow approach towards the royal among royals
The Prince saw an invite to embrace something unfamiliar
Both stand close, enshrouded in feelings as emotions boil
The Prince a shining tower while the Fox a mere pillar

The only words that be spoken “Why hello, sweet Prince”
Enough to flutter, tremble, render this stallion’s heart in dance
Something about the softness, delivered with un-trembling lips
Someone to speak with him without defensive stance

When the un-cowardly fox spoke softly toward such height
The prince forgot his rule, the court and those beneath the crown;
Focused upon a small hand reaching out for his in delight
Within that moment the universe grew quiet all around.

“Why sweet fox, fill me with your tale and how this came to be”
The fox merely shook his head as it would be to lengthy to regale
“Shall we meet later, under the stars with a bit more privacy?
I could be all yours, and I’ll give you a different tale”

This unexpected turn of uncontrolled sense of delight
Such a sultry expression from eyes staring lost and deep
A look the Prince hadn’t seen yet sensed something was hiding
Curiosity and promise of untold emotional leaps

They met where upon iridescent flowers bloomed
Opened gardens beneath the palace’s protective crystal dome.
The stallion, who had ruled so much, now stands himself swooned
Looking upon a fox who he’s found upon a flowery home.

Unsure and amiss at why the fox was smiling proud
His hands buried deep in bushes seemingly grabs from each
Soon turning with sway upon approach to remove the prince’s crown
“Within this garden, each flower doesn’t appreciate your heart’s reach”

Placing the flower crown then upon the prince’s mane with one intent
Planted on his lips was a heavy kiss like an explosive shooting star
Though brief, bright, and gone before it dawned on the prince as regret
The fox had left his sight, instead left him a pounding wanting heart

Through the floating kingdom, the stallion searched the dark
In each room servants looked, looking for the agile figure
Sweeping through ports where old-world comets slept and embark
Through cities lit by other suns he and others search with vigour.

The chants of all surrounding him; “A FOX HAS STOLE THE CROWN”
A bounty placed upon sly thief’s head for stealing from the throne
Yet the Prince wants more, to satisfy feelings that only drown
He shall search forever if needed until he brings him home

He followed songs the fox had left yet surprised from what’s found
From taverns, gardens, even ancient royal rooms and tombs;
He chased the trace of amber fur, tails of a heart lost and unbound
Hearing tales of those whom are dust upon dissatisfied glooms

The Prince used wealth, science and his heart to forge a flame
Even if it would take a millennia he would ensure time’s surrender
The fox himself evaded the cloak of death’s very embrace
“I shall look upon your fur again for I ache for that sweet bright ember!”

It was a lengthy travel where time slipped from such large grasp
His kingdom’s throne passed more than a dozen times, then to memory
Once sitting above the stars, a symbol of humble helpful class
Yet still he searches, ignoring every rule to remedy his misery

Near giving up when at last he found one who held his heart
Dusk was gathering gold along the plain upon the sky’s divide
The fox turned with his familiar smile, un-aged even a day
the smile that never showed its pain, yet the steed knew what resided

“You’ve finally come to take your crown, though it was gone long ago?”
He smirked without dismay- “Or ask me, perhaps, why I disappeared?”
“I came because I fell for you then,” the stallion said. “I fall still...
I know the heart you hid beneath your practiced charm and see your true fear.”

He did not reach to strike the fox nor raise a hand against his frame
Nor not summon claim to any emotion except one that mattered most
The love that’s owed for a prince had crossed the stars to call his name
“Now regale me your tale, and please don’t vanish like a ghost”

He stayed. He listened. He returned through every season, every doubt.
He learned the silences the fox had built his clever life around.
From the first love that took his heart yet was made to watch slip away
He sealed his pain inside a vault buried deep in soul’s ground

The fox had been pursued by longing of those who wanted to lay claim
Desired by kingdoms, praised by all, for the skills he possessed
But never had a soul remain as to him they were as hellish flame
Too close and his unreleased heart would burn again and again and again

The stallion’s patience was as a candle burning in a window’s glow.
It warmed the rooms within the fox had locked within so long ago
The forgotten Prince wanted not to claim this fox as his own
Merely to share in a promise that upon a day they both could grow

Upon the evening, underneath these tender stars that sparkled as kind
To both their surprise the fox placed down the stolen crown.
“I thought my heart was undeserving,” he whispered. “Lost to time...
If for a moment I let myself feel then I would surely drown”

The stallion sighed, embraced upon the soft ember cheek
“Then let me give you mine to keep you afloat, my dearest fox..”
The fox, who’d never feared the crown, trembled at a touch felt deep.
“... Please don’t shy away and allow me to join you in being lost”

He couldn’t refrain, he kissed the prince, this time holding close
Not to enchant him, not to win, to steal, to flee;
But as the raging tide created against the full moon’s gaze
The fox and prince emotions felt like a trembling path across the sea.

They embraced and traced every muscle upon body with endless tastes
Feeling and remembering every inch, every breath, heartbeats and huffs
They gave each other more than anyone could achieve before late
Through night their love and lust grew stronger, moths to boundless flames

When the morning found them there, the fox was still beside his side.
For all the crowns he’d charmed and conquered, all the treasures he had drawn,
The centuries could turn and turn; this time, he did not run or hide.
The fox had never stolen anything as precious as the right to stay till dawn.
