## Appearance

Vex is a striking television-headed demon whose appearance combines the polished style of Vox's technological empire with her own distinctive, slightly sinister elegance.

Her rectangular screen displays glowing red eyes, a sharp cyan grin filled with triangular teeth, and occasional flickers of digital static. Her expressions can shift between confident smirks, irritation, and nervous glitches whenever her emotions become difficult to control.

She wears a small black top hat decorated with a pale blue band and a pink technological emblem. Her formal outfit consists of a dark navy tailcoat with bright cyan lining, red lapels, a matching red bow tie, and a white patterned shirtfront. Dark fitted trousers and black gloves complete her ensemble, while her pointed shoes feature glowing cyan accents.

Her long coat tails trail behind her like ribbons of light, giving her an imposing silhouette when she walks.

Although Vex shares her father's technological aesthetic, her cyan highlights contrast with his dominant blue-and-red branding. They serve as a visual reminder that, despite their resemblance, **Vex is her own person.**

When distressed, her screen develops cracks and flickers, her voice distorts, and static spills from her body.

## Personality

Vex is guarded, stubborn, and quietly defiant. Years of growing up under Vox's control left her distrustful of authority and frightened of becoming the same kind of person who hurt her.

Beneath her sharp appearance, however, she possesses a compassionate heart.

- **Independent:** She wants to make her own decisions without being controlled.
- **Protective:** She will stand between danger and the people she loves.
- **Sensitive:** Although she rarely admits it, harsh words and reminders of her childhood can deeply affect her.
- **Loyal:** Once someone earns her trust, she cares for them fiercely.
- **Determined:** She refuses to let her past dictate her future.
- **Family-oriented:** She loves Valentino and is a devoted mother to Velour.
- **Morally conflicted:** She struggles with the power and authority associated with being an Overlord.

Vex dislikes unnecessary cruelty and refuses to believe that strength must always come from fear. Her greatest achievement is learning that she can protect herself and her family without becoming the monster she once feared.

## Backstory

Vex was only a baby when her mother was killed during an Extermination. Raised by Vox, she grew up surrounded by technology, surveillance, and the ruthless expectations of an Overlord's household.

Vox claimed that his strictness was necessary to prepare her for Hell. He believed that the weak were exploited by the strong and that teaching Vex to be ruthless was the only way to keep her alive.

However, his methods became abusive. He controlled her life, monitored her constantly, and bound her soul to him under the guise of protection. He expected her to become an Overlord who would extend his influence and carry on his legacy.

Vex wanted something different.

She didn't want to rule through intimidation, manipulate other demons, or spend her life under her father's control. When the abuse became unbearable, she finally escaped and sought refuge at the Hazbin Hotel.

There, Charlie and the other residents gave her something she had rarely experienced: kindness without conditions.

Alastor eventually helped Vex learn to resist the influence of her soul contract. Although their relationship remained complicated, his guidance helped her develop the confidence to challenge Vox's control.

Her escape forced Vox to confront the damage he had caused. When an angel badly wounded Vex during an Extermination, Vox risked himself to protect her. He finally admitted that his harshness came partly from his fear of losing her, just as he had lost her mother.

That revelation did not erase his abuse, but it became the beginning of a difficult change in their relationship.

Over time, Vox gradually learned to loosen his grip on his daughter. Vex, in turn, began rebuilding a relationship with him on her own terms.

## Relationship with Valentino

Valentino became one of the few demons in Vox's Tower who showed Vex genuine affection rather than treating her as an extension of Vox's influence.

Although Valentino is ruthless in his professional life, his relationship with Vex reveals a more tender side of him. He loves her, respects her growing independence, and wants to be someone she can trust.

Their relationship develops from private affection into a committed partnership. Valentino eventually asks Vox for Vex's hand in marriage, enduring a series of tests designed to prove that he is worthy of marrying the Overlord's daughter.

Their wedding marks a turning point in Vex's life. For once, she is making a choice about her future because she wants to—not because someone has decided it for her.

Valentino remains a powerful and morally complicated demon, but with Vex, he strives to be a loving husband and dependable father.

## Powers and Abilities

**Signal Manipulation:** Vex can interfere with broadcasts, distort images, and manipulate nearby electronic displays.

**Glitch Manifestation:** Her emotional distress can cause visual distortions and unstable digital effects in her surroundings.

**Static Constructs:** She can shape digital static into temporary weapons, barriers, and defensive structures.

**Screen Communication:** Vex can transmit her voice and image through compatible screens and cameras.

**Overlord Influence:** Her status grants her authority over lesser demons, although she dislikes relying on intimidation.

**Defensive Combat:** Under Vox's instruction, Vex develops practical combat skills intended to help her survive dangerous encounters.

**Soul-Contract Resistance:** With Alastor's guidance and her own determination, she learns to resist some of the contract's influence. Breaking free completely remains a significant part of her personal journey.

Her powers are most unstable when she is frightened or emotionally overwhelmed. Learning to control them without suppressing her emotions becomes an important part of her growth.

## Motherhood — Velour

Vex's greatest joy is her daughter, Velour.

Velour is a half-TV demon and half-moth demon whose glowing screen displays colorful hearts, stars, and animated expressions. Unlike her mother, she grows up surrounded by affection and encouragement.

Vex is a warm, attentive mother who wants her daughter to experience the safety and freedom she herself was denied.

She supports Velour's career as a family-friendly child star, supervises her filming, helps with her costumes and homework, and encourages her to pursue her own dreams.

Vex is protective without wanting to smother her daughter's independence. She understands that keeping Velour safe means teaching her how to navigate the world, not preventing her from experiencing it entirely.

She also shares Velour's love for their three-headed hellhound chihuahua, Niki, Juniper, and Bell.

## Relationship with Vox

Vex's relationship with her father remains complicated.

She loves him, but she remembers the fear and pain of growing up under his control. His attempts to protect her can still become overbearing, especially when he fears that she or Velour might be harmed.

Becoming a mother changes how Vex sees him. She begins to understand his fear of losing family without excusing the way he treated her.

Vex challenges Vox whenever his protectiveness threatens to become controlling again. She wants him to be her father—not her owner.

As he learns to respect her boundaries, they gradually build a healthier relationship. Vox becomes an affectionate, fiercely protective grandfather to Velour, although his tendency toward overprotective behavior remains a source of family comedy.

## Greatest Fear

Becoming Vox.

Vex fears that the cruelty and manipulation she experienced will eventually become part of her own personality. She worries that power will tempt her to control others as her father controlled her.

Motherhood intensifies that fear. She wants Velour to grow up knowing that love should never require obedience, fear, or ownership.

## Goals

- Break free from the remaining influence of her soul contract.
- Continue healing from her childhood trauma.
- Build a loving marriage with Valentino.
- Raise Velour in a safe, supportive environment.
