Hatchling got so used to the time loop that he stopped taking his own safety seriously. Why fly carefully when recklessness has no consequences? Once, he nearly crashed his ship right at the start of the loop, making an emergency landing back on the launch pad, and quickly realized that there were consequences after all. He may have become an ace, but for everyone else, this is still his first flight
