It has been a few days since Feathers had saved Luna and Celia from the cave. Luna and Celia had moved into Slither's house to get comfortable. Luna and Slither had been keeping company, while Celia spent time with Feathers and his siblings, getting to know them a lot, and the adventures they had. One day, Feathers sat on a stool, wondering if things were gonna change after a good deed he had done. Luna came in humming a tune when she noticed him.
"You feeling okay, Feathers?" Luna asked.
"Yeah, I was just thinking," Feathers said. "It's been a few days since I found you and Celia, and I often wonder if things are gonna change someday. First, I had met Ince. Then I met Skylar, Otis and Bess. And then recently I met you and Celia. Do you think it was worth doing the right thing?"
Luna sat her diaper butt on the floor. "Why ask such a question, dear? Of course it's the right thing to do. I've been chatting with Slither, and I heard so much of you and your siblings. Well, you kids did tell me your origins and such. But hearing from Slither, it almost reminded me of how I raised my daughter single-handedly."
Hearing that made Feathers sad. "I wish you hadn't lost your boyfriend so soon, Luna. It's not fair you had lost him so soon."
Luna fell sad too. "It really is unfair, but there was nothing I could have done. All I had left was to raise my daughter, for him."
Feathers sighed. "It's like how I felt when Ince lost his parents from the storm, or how Bess lost her mother in the forest fire... or when Otis was forced to join the bad kids because of how badly he was treated. What had happened to them, and you, was so unfair!" He covered his eyes. "Why couldn't things just work out well?! It's not fair!"
Luna felt silent at seeing Feathers so emotional, and she put her hand on his shoulder. "Feathers. Life isn't always fair, but that doesn't mean we stay down full time. Sometimes bad things happen, and it's nobody fault. What had happened to us was never your fault, as Slither had told me."
Feathers lowered his claws. "I didn't say it was my fault, madam."
"No, but honey, I used to think all those hard times would one day end my life, like how I got myself and Celia trapped in that cave." Then she smiled warmly. "But we found life once more, because you came to us, and helped us out of that cave. And your guardian offered us to move into this house. It is small, but he improvised with the guest room. Feathers, if more than ever, you helped us find positivity once more, just like you did your siblings."
Feathers was surprised. "I did?"
"Yes, Feathers. You had brightened our days in those dark times, and I'm very grateful to have met you, and so is Celia. Thank you, Feathers."
Feathers then fell touched by the cobra taur's kindness. "You're welcome, Luna. I'm glad that you're happy."
