What is FLAC?

I hear you, any time I can find a better quality version of a song, I upgrade my music stash. Though, what do you feel about Live versions of songs?

Also, will this be colored or is it up for grabs to be colored? :3  I sometimes like to color folks' ink/sketches when it grabs my attention, and if its alright.

.flac is a lossless format of audio files meaning no data is lost.

.mp3 is lossy meaning they compress the data (literately chopping off the tops and bottoms of the sound waves) loosing quality for the sake of compression. now this was good in the early 2000's when data was hard to come by but not now.

an album in mp3 will size about 100 - 200 MB's right.

lossless flac will size 700 MB's. the size of the standard CD which is also lossless compression

Thanks good stuff^^

What kind of programs edit and record that file type? My friends and I still transfer stuff to Mp3s that get recored (though, would it be that different for talk as it is for sound?)  We do podcasts and they do some music.

That all depends on what type of software your using for recording. podcasts don't really need to be lossless as they are meant to be streamed via the internet. Music yes. keep in mind you can never go up in quality from something less. example, converting an mp3 to flac will give you a flac that sounds identical to an mp3.

Most software that can rip music from a CD give the option to rip as Lossless. Flac is just one type of lossless file types (most popular) there is also aiff, aac and ogg to name a few.

Other then that. Google is a great way to gather information.

Gotcha. Thanks for the input. :3

I spoke of it with my buddy. He nodded about it, but I don't know if its data usage/memory for the site or what.
