My dearest pupil, amongst the writing that I leave to you, my first and foremost request is that these are for your eyes and your eyes only. Do whatever it takes to not shed light of the contents to Shade and Kitsuno for as long as possible, as the truth will cause more issues than one thinks.
Liam. I write these down as part of my memento for you. As struggling as it may be, do not force yourself to read further than you need to. Do not rush, even if you end up losing these notes one day, I know you will find a way, with or without them.
For days on end, well over a year before I traveled to Haléswept, I have been having visions. Said visions involve the state of affairs of how Druisalle as a whole has become and to become. At first, I thought I was losing my mind. But nay, it was moreover that I was being showed the events.
Having said, the mage society itself was in order of a new generation. My travels began to search out for potential candidates that show interest in said studies. I kept it to where I do not intrude on locations with a closer guild, as one would mistake me for reaping competition. High Mage I may have been, but I like to keep things fair.
And as time kept going, so did the visions. Some becoming more clear as I traveled, to some being vague. One instance involved a large flaming hound setting a whole forest ablaze. While this did not add up immediately, once the rumors of a cultist group that fled to the south into Orvanellia came into light, the vision pieced together. I know exactly the cause of said fires now. Surely you do as well?
That said, the day I came to Haléswept was a memorable one. A warm welcome it was, just like how I envisioned it. You remember it too? The day that we crossed pathes.
I was minding my own business chatting away with some of the locals, and perusing the shops for some ingredients that are more locally sourced within Haléswept. When I walked out of the shop, you looked up at me.
The sparkle deep in your eyes. I could see the potential of a mage within you. Remember how I first introduced you into magic? By purposely leaving behind a book for you to discover? You were so enthralled into it that your father had to pry you away from the tome. Thus began your journey as my apprentice.
Your folks were definitely surprised to see that I had chosen you as my apprentice. While saddened to see their young boy go off so early, this was what fate had in store for you.
The visions had lessen up since, but I was more focused on teaching you some of the basics on our journey back to Sarydia. You may not have noticed how fast you were progressing with how excited you felt, but you truly are gifted. The last person I remember being this enthusiastic in the arcane arts was well over fifty years ago.
Which is why you prompted faster than the other young mages that came to Sarydia. You have a burning passion Liam. One that will rekindle the flames the mages are losing.
And that flame is dying faster than one thinks. As the visions from before started coming back. Especially the day we met the kitsunes.
Yes, I am talking about Shade and Kitsuno. To most of the ordinary eyes, some will take a glance at the two and think they are just normal fox girls. Up until they show their own magic potential that is. Then that's a new story.
However, to some mages, we can easily tell the differences. Kitsunes have this distinct aura around them that screams to the magi. And these two had one powerful aura. Almost too powerful.
Then I got to thinking. Kitsunes normally keep themselves hidden under illusions. When we met them, they were under no such thing. At what point would kitsunes not wear illusions to hide away from others? I've only met and seen five kitsunes within my lifetime, and none of them acted like these two do.
Two strange kitsunes, roaming about like a normal everyday person. Unclear as to why some are afraid of them when they find out what they are. The twins even felt lost with how some parts of society works. Take the hospital for instance. Those two were unclear of the environment. Like they have never seen anything like that before, despite them coming from Orvanellia.
Or did they? Was the question that started burning a hole in my head. The mystery between those two made me open up some old tomes I have had laying around. Even consulting with Professor Gordan as he was fluent with history himself. As their names started striking odd of an old myth I was told before.
A myth that I soon came to understand over time.
The day we were attacked, when I was almost killed by those bandits. What I thought was another vision, was more real than I can believe. Sarydia was burning, comets falling from the heavens itself. The empire laying in the destruction as the two kitsunes stood upon the wreckage, speaking the old language of the gods.
In a fugue state in my mind, I honestly thought this was a waking nightmare. But, in reality, this was something that was set in motion. Something that Cassandra herself had seen, and enlightened me her own visions.
Yes Liam. I am referring to thee Cassandra. Cassandra Nightwing. The mother of the twins. And last divine oracle to the god Vëlasïk. The one who is using the twins as a form of entertainment.
It was because of her last dying wish, that her daughters were to be saved from Zephiel Dwénshire the I's wrath. Vëlasïk complied. In their own way. By sending the two forward several generations.
Under no circumstances are you to tell them their true identities, let alone of both their mother Cassandra, or their father Jaspar Daggerfall. Them learning the truth too soon would not bode well. Though, by now, this event may have already transpired.
Despite the mages and doctors giving it their all to keep me alive, in truth, I had already died. What you all spoke with and saw, was just me with borrowed time. Enough time for me to summarize these events in writing as I am shown more to come.
By this point, my new mission became clear as day. Preparations are in order to give you your final task from me.
This became more apparent for me to handle as the night of the festival gave me insight with how little time I had left. The so called Chancellor, he is nothing but a pure threat. Not to just Shade and Kitsuno. No, he has far much worse plans in store. Those two are just a key factor in the chaos he wishes to unfold.
And alas, while I know about the curse from what Cassandra has explained, I am afraid, even if you were to manage to speak with Zethera, which I highly recommend you do not, the lich will refuse. She has an inhumane hatred towards Vëlasïk. No one fully knows as to why the lioness hates them. Could be out of pure spite, maybe they were old lovers?
Regardless, the seance that went through on Kitsuno was making a pact with Zethera. Her claws are sealed on her soul. And because she is related to Vëlasïk, she will not bend to remove the curse.
Quincey, by now when you realize, is not the same man I once knew him as. It is unknown to me where he met The Chancellor, but I can guarantee to you, that he has been corrupted fully by the entity of chaos. The scepter he has in his possession hold no normal magic. No, when I laid eyes on it, I can hear the deafening screams of the void. A possible outcome of its origins more than likely tides in with where The Chancellor came from.
I tried my best to look into this myself into who this so called entitity claims to be, however Jaspar conceded to me that there was no chancellor standing by the emperor at the time. This was where things started unfurling after speaking with Levina herself. The Chancellor is not from our world. He came to incure chaos and wrath on his own accord.
Liam. My final task, one that will prove that you are the one that I placed my faith in. Defeat the human. Banish him from our dimension.

Melissa held onto the dishelved and torn notes. She lowered them down and looked at Liam, who kept his head down with his hat draped over his knees. His brown and white fur visible on his face for a change. "So your old master knew this was going to happen? Why the hell would he not say anything?"
"Ever heard of a butterfly effect Melissa?" The ferret looks up slightly, his green eyes stare at the mouse with slight torment, "If Wilhelm said anything, either fate or The Chancellor would have found a new way around it, leading to a whole different outcome that could have been much worse." Melissa winces a bit before placing the paperwork on the table, "Yeesh, alright then."
She then moves over to the ferret and places a hand on his head, "So, what are you going to do? We have to stay and help those two out with what is coming." He sighs before throwing his hat across the room. "It's more on the fact of, what to do after we fight back this oncoming army. With how unusual the storms are with their approach, I can already tell that The Chancellor is coming."
He then forces himself to stand up. Moving towards the table, he looks at the torn paperwork with disdain, "Despite these being tampered with, I unfortunately understand what needs to be done. I don't want to leave her. I shouldn't leave her."
Melissa looks at the ferret with concern, "What do you mean? You're not thinking of abandoning them are you?" Holding his left hand up, "There is a reason why I came to you. As I know you will keep this a secret." Gently closing his hand, Liam held it aloft for a few moments before lowering it. "If Quincey was corrupted, I need to see to it to flush out the others that follow his rule. There are many out there that believe that those two are nothing but pure evil and an omen waiting to strike. But you and I know that is not true. Shade and Kitsuno are good people, and Wilhelm wants me to bring attention to the public that kitsunes are no different than the rest of us. The real one who is pure evil is that damn human. And as Wilhelm's final request, I have to see through banishing him."
Melissa looked at the ferret before shaking her head and walking back to the table, "And it sounds to me that you've finally lost your mind. Do you honestly think this is a good idea? Kitsuno is happy with you, and you are willing to break her heart just because of what some dead guy told you to do?" She places her right hand on the table to lean on it, "Do you even know where to start in banishing someone?"
He turns to face her, "While I have zero clue on how to banish The Chancellor, I will say this. This is not what Wilhelm wants, it's my way of protecting those two... Protecting everyone. Kitsuno means a lot to me, she really does. But unlike Simone, I'm not running away to solve my problems. I am willing to fight back however I can to make people see the factor that not all things are bad. To help coerce kitsunes out of hiding, and give them the opportunity to exist without fear."
She stayed silent for a moment before stepping back, "Alright. Just hope you understand what you are getting into." He smiles before reaching out with his right hand, "I know. It's not going to be an easy task. People will hate me and think I am insane. This is the path I will tread alone."
Melissa only stared at his hand before slapping it gently, "Just come back one day, alright? I don't want to find out how you met your end on a tombstone, got it." Liam nods before walking over to where he threw his hat. As he kneels down, he pauses before turning back to the mouse, "So, what about your secret?"
Silence permeated the room as Melissa instantly knew what he was talking about. She looks at the door to make sure it was closed, "Look. I wasn't expecting it okay? Harp on me all you want on how irresponsible I was, I don't care." She moves over to a wall away from the door and leans on it, "How well do you think she'll take it knowing you are a mother Melissa?"
She groans before moving her hands up onto her face, "It's not that I am worried about Liam... there... its just...." the mouse gently bashes the back of her head against the wall before uncovering her face. "Lucas wasn't too thrilled to see me pregnant, okay. I explained to him who was the father and made it clear that I will do what it takes to make things right. Course, as my older brother is, said I was an idiot. Much like how you said of me being irresponsible, but he also congratulated me."
Standing back up and dusting his hat, "What do you mean by that? That doesn't seem like a good thing to be congratulated on, especially when we were at the pinnacle of the war." Melissa slides down slowly on her back, "No genius, he said he was proud that I found a way out. Albeit, not a smart way out, but a way out. Away from Solomon. Away from the torment."
Liam put two and two together as he understood what she was talking about. Concern came over him though, "But what about your child? Where even is it?"
"With my brother. I gave birth a little over two months ago. Believe me Liam, I didn't want to leave my little boy... but Lucas insisted that I come back. He promised me that he'll keep him safe and away from.... Solomon." She keeps her head down as she was starting to have slight regret rising.
"And, what if they get caught?" She glares at the ferret, "Lucas would not dare. The moment I left, he also left Haléswept in order to keep his word and not be seen by him."
Given the tension, Liam decided to test the waters himself as there was little for him to lose now with Melissa, "So both of you are trying to avoid Randall. Is it that bad with him?" He could feel the burning rage behind her eyes, "Liam. My dad is a horrible, horrible scumbag. The further my brother keeps my son away from him, the better. I know he'll come after me as I was the main entertainment of his abuse. You know this by now as I know you. You're smart to piece together what I have told you in the past. But please, for everyone's sake. Don't ever bring up Randall, ever again." He nods, now confirming his theory, "I will. Sorry to have touched the subject."
