So. Anyone who's been with me for a bit will know that Tim has always been my main OC. He originally started out as a monotone version of Frisk from Undertale. I altered the design to make him more original, but I did run into a problem. Because his functioning eye and hair take up so much space, it leaves little room for expression
So. I've been experimenting doodling him in private. Even made a piece of him for a friend who liked the character. And I realized that the limited space actually made him more interesting to draw in some ways. It almost gives you a challenge. By removing the nose and by sorta stretching his mouth out, it makes for a weird yet still expressionate design. And for a character like Tim, I actually prefer him to be odd looking. Rather than him being a generic looking toon. I'm also quite pleased at how his belly turned out. A creaking balloon filled with food and fat. I think it gives me a unique look despite the fact that I'm still a beginner artist
You know what's funny? When I started out (I've only been drawing for two years. Self taught) I busted my ass trying to replicate the warner brother's art style (Hence why I'm actually decent at making Sonic characters. It's a very similar process). I researched multiple different western shows to try and replicate it. All of that, only for my main character to come out looking anime-ish. Even his hair was inspired by eastern cartoons
Kinda funny at how life works sometimes eh?
Also yeah. Ligma. Make no mistake, Tim is still a gremlin. Hedonistic to a T
