Zane and Moby, now together as a couple, spent the next few weeks in the lair focused on each other. The two also worked on the mobile HQ and were more open about things to each other. They were smitten for each other although Zane took a little while to get used to it being he has been alone for so many years and now his best friend was his boyfriend. Zane wanted to take Moby somewhere for a date but he knew the Paw Patrol would interfere or would they? He didn't know, so many questions about many things. Then there was Moby's misophonia, he didn't want the merpup to get triggered or get cornered by anyone. Zane could do the talking, he could protect his love, he would do anything for Moby now.
“Hey pups, have you seen Zane and Moby?” Ryder asked as the pups played together. Chase and Marshall were right next to each other as were Rocky and Zuma. “No, Ryder sir. It's been a few weeks,” Chase said. “There was a fairground competition too and Zane didn't show up. That is really weird,” Marshall added. Indeed, such a thing was almost unheard-of for the wolf dog. Everest, who was nearby with Skye, piped up. “That is weird. Maybe I should try calling him,” she said, touching her pup tag. “Zane?” She said into it. After a few seconds, a familiar somewhat grumpy voice came through. “What is it, sis? I'm busy,” Zane said through the tag. “Where have you been?” Asked Everest. No response and the line went dead. “Huh..guess he doesn't want to talk,” Skye said. “Let's not press, dudes. He's probably just in a sour mood, bummed out or whatever. It's not our business,” Zuma said with a shrug. They all murmured to each other, trying to understand what was going on with Zane. Was he planning something? Was he just doing this to mess with them?
Back at the lair, Moby and Zane sat together watching an old 90’s movie full of cheesy action and nonsense. Moby leaned against Zane, resting his head against his boyfriend. “Hey Zane? I think we should go out on a date. I love all this time with you but…I don't want to hide anymore. I'm ready,” Moby said, looking up at Zane. Zane looked down at the merpup and sighed. “Are you sure? The looks on their faces will be priceless but..,” he said then signed. “I suppose we have been cooped up in here for a bit. A real date sounds good. Alright,” Zane finished, getting off the couch and turning off the tv. Moby wagged his tail and got off the couch too, kissing Zane on the cheek. “How bout Mr Porter's?” Moby suggested. Zane smiled. “Alright, let us go then. Feel free to wear those shell phones if you wish,” Zane said with a smile. Moby put them on and the two boys set out for Mr Porter's for their date. Zane couldn't lie, he was nervous yet excited to show everyone that thought he couldn't feel love or look past his ego. Moby didn't show it, but he was overjoyed to finally be going on a real date with the wolf dog he loved.
Mr Porter's wasn't too busy and the shop owner was shocked to say the least seeing the two bad pups sitting at a table. He approached them with a little bit of caution. “Oh uh hello you two. What can I get you?” He asked, being professional. Zane looked at the menu and then back to him. “The 6 inch cheese steak sub for me and how bout for you?” He said, looking to Moby. “The same,” the merpup uttered. Mr Porter wrote the order down then went into the kitchen to start to cook the food and call the Paw Patrol. “Hey Mr Porter. What's up?” Ryder asked through the pup pad. “Moby and Zane are here. I'm making them lunch and I don't want to assume anything but it's been almost a month with not a peep from them,” he said as he cooked. “On our way,” Ryder responded. Meanwhile, Moby and Zane were just enjoying each other's company even with the occasional suspicious glance from a towns person. They didn't kiss, not yet, nor did they really say anything to them. This sweet relative silence was interrupted by Mr Porter bringing them their food then the Paw Patrol showing up, with Chase, Ryder and Everest. Zane’s sister was there because she was the one he would most likely talk to. Ryder saw the two baddie pups just sitting there at their table glaring at the trio. “What do you want?” Zane asked somewhat irked. Everest got closer with a smile on her face with Chase and Ryder letting her handle her brother. “Hey Zane, Moby. Been about a month and you two have been absent for that entire time, even missing a competition. That's unlike you, big bro,” she said, looking at Zane. The wolf dog sighed and got off his chair, sitting some distance from the husky. “What of it? Such a competition is beneath my greatness!” Zane replied with his typical pride and attitude although it was softer this time. Moby took off his shellphones and got off his seat and sat next to the wolf dog. “Maybe we just wanted a break from everyone. Ever thought about that?” Moby added with attitude. “What is going on with you two?” Chase said, walking closer to the pair. “None of your business, Chase. Tch,” Zane scoffed. “Hey, I'm just asking. No need to be rude,” Chase replied. Zane let out a sigh and looked at Moby who nodded. They silently agreed to just be honest with them, to tell them what they were doing. “Want to know what is going on? Why we were gone for a month? That's simple,” Zane said, standing up and looking at Moby with a fond expression and smile. He turned back to everyone. “We spent the last month getting to know each other better.. before that we had feelings we didn't understand and like a fool I rejected them. Thoughts raced, something plucking at our hearts..and now I'm proud of what Moby and I are. He's my boyfriend!” Zane proclaimed with pride as Moby kissed his cheek, blushing with the wolf dog returning the affection. Chase's jaw just about hit the ground, Ryder was also shocked and Everest cooed. “That's the cutest thing I've ever heard! My big brother, a softy for the merpup!” She squealed, front paws on her face. Zane and Moby sighed, looking into each other's eyes and kissed each other gently. “Yeah..he's my sea creature…,” Zane said fondly. Moby leaned against him. “And he's my wolf,” Moby replied, nuzzling him. Chase recomposed himself as he looked at the new couple, reminding him of him and his boyfriend Marshall. “So..you two were just.. accepting that you guys love each other? Wait, are we ruining your date?” Chase said, looking a little embarrassed. “Yes you are but whatever. We were just about to leave anyway,” Zane said as him and Moby started to walk off. “Hey Zane?” Everest said. “What?” Her brother replied, not looking back at her. “I'm proud of you. Guess the big bad wolf has a heart,” she continued. Zane scoffed softly and looked back at her with a smile. “Guess so..guess so,” he answered, finally leaving with Moby.
