"Much better...!" Brooke walked in, happy to be wearing something more neutral. "Now can we set that dress on fire, or something?" "Let's not draw any more attention to ourselves, huh?" Rila said, pushing up her glasses, despite herself. "Besides, I can't even cast my fire magicks anymore..." "Eh, matches work just as well." Astrid smirks, glancing away from the dirty look Rila shoots her. She knew that'd get to her. "How's that connection to your 'god' going, huh Astrid?" Rila sneered. "Ah, yeah that's an idea!" Brooke said, not noticing the sarcasm. Nor the choice of name. "Adam, can we get like, a guidance, or something...? We could really use some actual plans..." Adam-now-Astrid's connection to the divine god of light Eona had been invaluable in the old world. His piety in return granted divine healing powers to keep the team patched up. But Astrid had been hesitating to say out loud something she didn't want to accept. Her connection to Eona had gone, she couldn't feel it any more. "Damn." Brooke said, then realising that meant something awful, "But, your Drake's Blight...!" If there was one reason Adam had become a servant of Eona in the first place, it was to have regular care for his awful affliction. Astrid shook her head though, the illness had left too, luckily. Brooke was relieved at that. At any rate, this had given Astrid an idea. It seemed as if everything in this world was merely altered from its original; the town's layout was the same— only the buildings had changed. In other words, Astrid could travel the path to the temple of Eona, and perhaps being at such a place of power could help her regain his divine connection...? "oh sure your stupid powers take precedent i guess..." Rila grumbled. "Gods do take precedent over mere mortal strength yes, that is true!" Astrid was doing his helpful-definitely-not-remotely-bitter voice. Rila, AKA the former-sorcerer Roderich, was jealous that Astrid had any degree of plan on getting her power back. Rila was not so lucky, it seemed. Roderich had wielded the great power of his flame sorcerer bloodline in the old world, jealously coveting power was kind of his thing. There was such a kick to being able to combust anything —anyone— reducing it to ash with a flick of the wrist. Especially in a world where such power is deliciously unique. He was unstoppable. And reckless. But since becoming Rila, those powers had left, too. It frustrated Rila to no end to think that the blood that now ran in his veins was just, normal. Common. Weak. His pyromancy grimoire turning into a book of boring healing spells was the cherry on top. The group had noticed though, said book had an emblem on it from a magickal academy, notes and homework from which were dotted about the hideout. It seemed Rila was a student there, and moreover, apparently said academy had a very well stocked library of Tomes. Mayhaps they could search out a spell to turn things back...? "Schedule on the wall says there's a wagon that goes there." Rila said, crossing her arms. "Early morning. Tomorrow is the start of the school week..." She didn't sound thrilled. Brooke thought. Two leads... It was the beginning of a plan at least. She briefly wondered what had gotten Kit to finally keep quiet, then started making plans.
----- Ah, happy to return to this, finally. I never intend there to be a 6 month gap between updates but it happens. As ever, I am in the process of killing my perfectionist side <3 I am now using a sledgehammer <3 <3 <3
