It was a typical day in Peak Country. It became too hot for Ince and Bess to play outside, let alone their teenage siblings, but Ince didn't mind. He sat on the floor, reading his diary, reflecting the times he had with his parents, when Feathers came in.
"Whatcha reading?" Feathers asked.
"Huh?" Ince turned his head. "Oh, hi, Feathers. I was just going over my diary."
"Your diary? Oh, your book of thoughts," Feathers chuckled. "If I were to guess, it's a lot to do with you and your parents."
"Pretty much so, and this was the diary they gave me, along with my teddy bear..." he looked down at the floor, "before I lost them in the storm."
"I see. Well, I'll let you be and..."
"Wait!" Ince said. "Um..." he was shy to ask, but then he spoke up. "Would you like me to read you my diary?"
Feathers looked at him, then smiled warmly as he sat next to him. "I had nothing to do. Go ahead, little brother."
Ince smiled, and he opened his diary to read to his big brother.
