ive been on a huge mlp kick lately in terms of watching it ... im on season 8 right now, before that i had never even seen past the halfway of season 4! ive also been watching the movies along the way, equestria girls is actually super hype sometimes ..
About half-way through Season Four is right when I started thinking, "This show really is not going to go back to being good again, is it?" I have never seen Season Eight. It is kind of neat to see someone who was not following the original run having a good time with the show beyond Season Two. The rest of it is probably better with a bit of audience detachment. I am curious to read your reaction to the movie.

yea thats super fair i hear a lot of people dislike the show after the earlier seasons ^.^
i grew up with gen 4 since i was born in 2006, i know i watched up to the first equestria girls but i dont think i got into s4 at all when i was younger... ive fixated on mlp here and there over the years but itd always be more into fanmade grimdarks that i also grew up with rather than watching the actual show xD but this time around im mostly just watching. i really love it !!!
i can definitely see what people mean about it "falling off", the art style definitely does weird things sometimes and occasionally theres an episode where one of the mane 6 are very out of character and annoying and stubborn to a great extreme that gives me a lot of second hand embarrassment, but overall i still like this show.
yea im sure audience detachment is helping lol, im not really in the fandom other than making fanart lolol so i dont have to put up with people telling me how bad one of my favorite things is xD
as for the movie, it was alright! it kind of just felt like if an episode was 5x longer and with a much higher animation budget... it did introduce a lot of new things like places and species, but that all couldve easily happened in the regular episodes, it just mightve been more drawn out. i liked it though lol.

That's cool, I appreciate a good essay. I may have to give the movie a watch some time. The show did remain fun, for the most part, for as long as I watched even after it stopped being the Tolkein-esque fantasy of the first couple seasons, so it might be worth it to give it another go now that several years have passed since the run ended.
