Character Sheet for Miranda Carter
Character Description
Mandy is a 17 year old Collie girl with a troubled past full of trauma and abuse. Although she has endured much, it is speculated that this is not the source of her Amnesia, which seems to have been artificially initiated. Seemingly quiet and reserved, her self-controlled temperament should not be mistaken for stoicism necessarily...
Personality
Less flamboyant and reactive than Mark and some other students, Mandy is mostly quiet and seems calm. This is mostly due to whatever treatment was applied to her after her institutionalization. Because it is a mystery what was done to her after her stay at Rochester General, her personality should still be considered "unstable" and she needs a Buddy. Mandy is plagued by an artificial type of "Amnesia": she does not remember her childhood, her mother's suicide, her youth being yanked between orphanages and institutions... or Mark. Whatever the unidentified party did to her whiped out her memory, and as far as Mandy is concerned, she met Mark a year ago.
Likes/Dislikes
Likes Flowers and nature, soothing music at night, birds, sunny weather, health activities, Mark being nice
Dislikes Nightmares about her past, hornets, rain and snow, spicey food, Mark being stupid and avoidant
Favorite Foods: salad, cheese-bread and pasta, pizza (which Sandy doesn't want her to have)
Background/History
Mandy has never had a normal life: born to a single mother with chronic manic depressive disorder and minor schizoaffective disorder, Mandy never knew her father, and spent the first few years of her life trying to help her mentally ill mother manage a poor household on public welfare. She had Mark for a friend, but that was it. One day, while she was playing with the boy, Mandy's mother drew a bath, called 911, and slit both of her wrists, killing herself. As if this was not tragic enough, Mandy returned home before emergency responders arrived, and found her mother's body. For the next several years, Mandy was sent back and forth between care orphanages, halfway houses, and state-run bording homes where she was continually either abused or neglected. Meanwhile, Mandy's own conscience abused her, as she convinced herself that her mother's suicide was 'because of her'.
After four years of terrible abuse, it was determined that Mandy would not only never be adopted, but was so badly traumatized and destabilized that she would need to be submitted to intensive psychiatric care on a permanent basis. Her caretaker at the time (who was later removed and prosecuted themselves for abuse) committed her to Rochester General's "R-Wing" Inpatient Psychiatric Center. Her condition continued to deteriorate until she began to spend long periods of time in catatonic states. She was diagnosed with lock-in syndrom, her PTSD was declared mostly untreatable, and she was kept in an isolation ward, there likely to spend the rest of her days...
Then one day, four years ago, a mysterious unidentified party visited her... and Mandy was removed from Rochester General, disappearing. Parts of her file were redacted, and the identity of this party was scrubbed from the records. Where she was taken after that is unknown, and the next time Mandy was seen, she was delivered to Tempered Trails directly by the same unnamed party. Again, this person's visit to Tempered Trails, their reasoning for depositing Mandy, and what had happened to her before that, were all scrubbed. When Mandy regained consciousness to join the student population, she could not remember anything but her own name: her memories of the stranger, where she had been, the mental hospital in Rochester, the orphanage, the government homes, her mother, and Mark, were all gone, and to this day, no one knows how this was done...

Body
Miranda is a Collie girl of modest build. She's somewhat tall, even for her type, and has some fairly rough physical traits. Despite her docile and calm demeanor, she's rather strong and has the capability to be somewhat athletic, which Sandra encourages. She is also somewhat plain in appearance, and has sometimes been pegged as 'unattractive'. Mark certainly doesn't seem to agree.
Clothing
Mandy wears fairly plain, low- key clothing: non-printed t-shirts, dim-colored medium skirts or shorts depending on weather and activities, plain sweaters and sweatpants in cold winter weather. She also wears some athletic wear at a gym, and has a training suit for sparring with Sandra. She wears heavy winter jackets in snow, and lightweight windbreakers in the fall.
Accessories
Mandy has a small white handbag that she keeps personal items in.
