Honestly I sorta like the idea they're part mew, specifically a shiny one.
Although talking about secrets, they like to pretend merrit (Thanks to merrit's mew form) is their secret long lost twin, they even teased merrit when overhearing them talking about a espeon (forrtune) being their twin.
