humans to be at her choosing only when she find herself intrigued at human doings on the mortal realm. If anything she is apathetic to most humans but on occasion she would go to the realm of the living in a few forms that she fancy. Nyx can use the power of summoning comets that she can shape and alter to her will and use them in an aggressive manner if she needs to and only if she is provoked into fighting. Nyx does have other magical abilities but those are only know to her and to entities (divine characters that exists on higher planes). It's always a smart choice not to provoke her to any defensive action or do anything that invoke her ire as most fights would only be a losing proposition for you.
