Ashkii was always an outsider. Stolen away as a child in a raid, raised by natives, and passed from tribe to tribe as a curiosity, he did not have much in the way of stability growing up. He became reclusive, strong, and very stoic. He is a man of few words, tempered action, and quiet emotion. If he allows you to stay around him, it is a good sign though. It means that he likes you.
He was eventually adopted by a chief, and while certainly not on the same standing as his "pure" sons, he still has a respected position now in the tribe, though he is regarded with some paranoia by many of his tribesfolk.
He often serves as a translator for the tribe, having taken the time to learn english from other slaves and traders, and teaching himself to read from one of the few things he kept when he was stolen away: A small satchel with a couple of books and a bible.
