Looks pretty cool and action'y!
But.. Is this style faster to draw than your regular style?

not exactly
It's still pretty intensive eitherway
if not more intensive than my usual sometimes

Ah okay, I had this idea in my head that a "manga-style" was more efficient somehow due to it being optimized for weekly comics hehe

theoretically it SHOULD be
the reason why it isn't efficient yet is tbh a lack of skill on my part so far
Being inconsistently as fast as doing lines and color

Oh, I just remembered something I saw once where they filmed the inside of a manga studio: some artists use pre-made cutouts of facial expressions, yannow, surprise, anger, happy, smile, frown, etc etc, so they could just copy that directly and then line the face and hair and such!

That definitely helps on the production speed hehe

It kinda depends on the publisher, the artist, and the assistants how they do it
Typically though the level of detail I want to put in this is supposed to be on par with that of a professional on a monthly publication but I want to be able to optimize the image enough to be able to be on par with an artist on a weekly series

The bar there is both high and low since for a weekly series yeah you need to do 15 or so pages a week but also they do often have assistants... Most of the character art is usually done solo tho and assistants mostly just do the backgrounds and inking. Most on a weekly publication basis however that don't have much assistant work are often more simplified in terms of rendering

Best thing to watch to see the process is bakuman
A fun little anime about making manga

Hehe, yeah seems like doing the impossible, either you sacrifice the quantity, or the quality!

It's a fun style! Just hope it isn't too hard on your hand. Plus, there's something to be said for scribble eyes representing lack of visual focus from being in pain
