Church grimms actually show up in a couple different places in folklore and they weren't always dogs. Some of them held that it was just the duty of who or whatever got buried most recently, so you'd end up with fights if 2 people died close to the same time over whose ghost would have to take over the duty.
So, I was making a discworld reference, he had a running gag about people being warned not to trust dogs with orange eyebrows. The best guess I've found from people is that it was a reference to The Hounds of Annwn or some of the hounds used in the wild hunt. Though this wouldn't apply as perfectly to Angus as most of the animals of the otherworld were white as their base color.
