There once was a little Kirlia that lived with her Gardevoir mother. She had hair as blue as the sea and eyes that glimmered like the stars.

Every day, her mother taught her how to fight, and every night, they trekked to the tallest hill to look at the stars.

The little Kirlia loved watching the night sky. How the stars sparkled like gems on a cave's ceiling, or how there was an occasional falling star that she could make a wish upon. But what she loved the most was watching the stars with her mother.

One curious night did the pair made the trek, and so did they find a telescope left in the wild. And while it was indeed rude to use someone else's property, there was no one around to claim ownership.

And so the mother allowed the daughter to gaze through the looking glass. Much clearer were the stars from the little girl's sights, how the stars came in blues and reds. She could see all, so much yet so little.

And she wished she was there for it all.

And so everyday every night, the pair returned to the curious telescope. Spending their time watching the stars from it and without it...

And every time, the little Kirlia simply wished yet again to see it all. Each time the little girl would unravel her psychic mind from herself, as if to stretch an invisible arm upto the heavens above. And each time, she would gain nothing in return.

Every new day, her psychic energy strengthened, and the reach for the stars was closer than ever before, yet still so insurmountably far away. Every day that little Kirlia looked up to the stars and stretched her hand.

She did so every day.

Every Evening.

Every Season..

Every Winter...

Every...

There once was a little Kirlia that lived alone atop the tallest hill. She had hair as blue as diamonds and eyes that were like the stars.

A grave stood untouched beside the closest tree to the edge of the sheer cliffside. And beside it was merely an old dusty telescope.

She looked through the looking glass for the millionth time.

She had memorised each and every star in the night sky.

She could trace the constellations without even thinking and label their stars and clusters and galaxies.

She could feel the radiant pulse of the stars with her magnificent psychic might as she stretched out her mind...

Yet...

There was always more. Always something else beyond.

Surely there was.

She would even bid her mother's grave farewell as she left with only the old telescope at hand as she ventured across the world.

New hemispheres and stars and constellations. Much more to see and find.

Yet still... That insatiable desire continued.

What else was lacking?

She had seen everything by then. Every star and planet and nebula. She had named the undiscovered and tallied the discovered...

No.

There was always one thing that remained constant.

The darkness of the night sky.

The veil of obscurity.

The final frontier.

That was the final solution to her problem.

Yes.

Yes!

She skipped back to the tallest hill of her village as she rested the worn telescope back in place.

Her mother's grave was more than forgotten as she took aim one final time.

And thus she gazed into the abyss.

And the abyss gazed back...

There once was a Gardevoir that travelled alongside a nomadic circus. She had hair as blue as the Sirius and eyes that were the very stars above.

She carried no Megastone, for she needed only the love of her one god above; her dual chest fins morphed to the symbol of a twinkling star, a symbol of that love.

During the night, from whence the Carnival is at its peak, she was that of a seer. An oracle that gave visions of one's past through the presence of the stars above, through an eternal orb of darkness that was a black hole.

And when there was none to give visions of the future to, she stood atop her makeshift tent looking beyond the stars using a relic of a long... forgotten... past...

There was a Gardevoir named Novae.

~

Novae is a rework on my first and previous Gardevoir artwork. With the Orphanage Services being an original work, I wanted to distance that artpiece into its own thing with Novae.
