Well, this was a new development for the arachnid puppeteer.

To end up on some strange new planet, a blue marble of sorts from the looks of it from space, was already a big step for a former monarch’s assistant who had hardly left the bounds of Pop Star and Floralia. At least it was a good opportunity for Taranza to get a chance to explore the broader universe, at least!

…Though, before being brought down to the planet itself from his ship, he could have sworn it looked a good deal bigger than it looks now, especially as he looked over at the town he landed right beside. None of it felt absurdly small, but even from a distance, he could tell he’d have trouble fitting into the doors that the residential houses would likely have at that size. Were the denizens of this world really so small?

Well, there was only one way to find out for certain, and that was to amble his way towards those same outskirts. Perhaps he could mingle with the people of this world, as well, if communications go well!

-----

As the spider made his way to the nearby residential area, he was swiftly made aware that his initial estimation was not going far enough; his form was already just greater in size than the homes along the outskirts of this living area, and the small creatures leaving those buildings to gawk at his approach were maybe a fifth of his current size…

…They looked so adorable strewn about on the ground, too. It was enough to get Taranza to blush gently as he continued to close the gap between the residence and himself. He was hardly used to getting this much attention at once; back in Pop Star, he was both small and ordinary enough to blend in with the crowds, but here, even if he were the size of these little soft-looking creatures, his strange spider body would stick out like a sore thumb regardless.

Still, there was a part of him that felt a sense of happiness, seeing all those eyes on him, focused on his every move. However, perhaps he should have spent a little more time watching where his large frame was going, rather than staring down at the strange, soft little creatures.

CRASH

A single errant sway to the side was all it took for Taranza’s lower body to rather violently crash into one of the many residences around him, the structure offering very little resistance before crumbling to the ground, with little more than its concrete foundation remaining. To the arachnid puppeteer, it was just a smack into a soft, low wall, yet it no doubt looked much more impactful to the tinier folk below! Especially as his eyes continued to stay focused on the little creatures, he saw so many of them go wide-eyed over his clumsy mistake, though he, too, was just as wide-eyed over his clumsy gaffe.

It was just such an odd feeling, being among such fragile, minuscule creations. It already felt like he was going through a miniature set, but these folk were certainly not porcelain or nonliving. That only made his realization of their fragility all the more surprising, though! How were such tiny folk able to survive in such a harsh universe? Had a creature like him really never shown up to their micro planet?

Given the mix of shocked, fearful, and…intrigued?…faces catching his eye, it seemed unlikely that they ever had to respond to a giant in their midst!

Perhaps, that just meant that they might need a little bit of protection, at least. Taranza couldn’t help but giggle silently to himself, this time taking a momentary shuffle backward as he tried to reorient himself; he had to be far more aware of his surroundings, lest he continue to inadvertently cause even more damage!

Strangely enough, though, while most of the denizens of this mini-planet understandably stood still—or even tried to back away and run off—after the incidental destruction, there were others who instead did the opposite, shuffling and sidling even closer to him, staring up in adoration. What was making them want to come to him, acting like he had just always been their idol…?

The arachnid gently scratched his head, smiling sheepishly as he gawked at the strange little worshippers. Even this little collective act by what might have been no more than a dozen little soft-skinned creatures was enough to make him giddy, too. He crouched low, watching the little guys make their daring approach towards him. They were just so cute down there, small enough for him to grab and hold in his palms without a second thought, like a true, bona fide god to them…

As the godly arachnid crouched down to get a better look at the smaller denizens, they did not hesitate in their resolve, eyes only glowing with a latent interest and desire at the strange beast that had come to visit their land. Seeing the lowest-hanging hands press into the ground with a gentle thump, it was quite the showcase of this being’s power, even when it was clear that it was trying to not continue to break buildings and cause a mess! Although, even the updrafts this creature would make with its movements was more than enough to cause a bit more damage to their surroundings.

Eventually, Taranza just couldn’t help himself, seeing all those cute little creatures getting closer and closer to his presence! Taking one of his middle hands, he crouched even further down, carefully laying it flat on the ground in front of the small group of bugs, palm-side up. His face was beaming at this point; was this what it felt like to be a monarch, a god?

Finally, there was a bit more of a pause as the great gloved hand, floating seemingly on its own yet capable of holding up the being’s form, descended to the ground, a great billow of dust accompanying its light impact with the ground. Still, while the bodies themselves seemed to hesitate, the glowing eyes didn’t leave; were they just pausing to take in the awe of this creature and its might? Still, after another dozen seconds, they each climbed up, one by one. Even with how many they were, they had no issues all fitting upon the singular palm, comfily standing or sitting as they awaited the great god’s next move.

Oh, gosh, they really are this enamored with him, aren’t they…? As the arachnid giant recognized just how serious they were in this desire, his cheeks only flushed a brighter red! Using one of his upper hands to cover his strained face, his smile somehow stretching even more underneath, he slowly raised the hand holding all of those tiny beings, plenty intrigued with the prospect of giving them a closer look through his discerning, princely eyes.

The great palm soon rose like an elevator, clearly attempting to move as slowly as it could for the tiny group. However, the attempts were not perfect, as the surface they sat and stood upon would occasionally tilt and tremble, quaking their little world and threatening to accidentally throw them off if they weren’t careful! Still, they held strong, eyes all looking up towards their god.

Taranza shivered even more in anticipation as he held those tinies close, watching their own reactions! Some of them were struggling to stay standing, still refusing to sit down despite all of his inadvertent motions throwing them off-balance! They were probably the cutest to look over, especially since they were the easiest reminder of just how much power he held over the people and creations of this little planet! As he internally squealed, eyes entirely focused on the little denizens, they seemed to get a little harder to look at. Were his eyes just growing fatigued, trying to focus on such small objects? No, they weren’t that small, yet…

To said worshippers upon the god’s palm, the opposite was beginning to occur as those two massive, amber eyes drilled into their every move. As their ground itself rumbled over the creature’s attempts to hide its anticipatory shivers, that same surface itself seemed to stretch and grow! Meanwhile, those eyes trying to narrow and focus upon them were beginning to take up even more of their sky above, revealing to them one obvious and inevitable fact; this great giant wasn’t done growing huge yet!

Eventually, as it was clear that the slight dwindling of his dedicated tiny worshippers wasn’t just an illusion, the arachnid god pulled his hand away and scanned over his surroundings. My, if it seemed that the residential buildings—and the world around them—had all gotten just a bit smaller. Perhaps, even a few times smaller than they were before, in fact! They barely reached the top of his floating stinger now, both making them easier to topple over and harder to accidentally run into. Another look into his palm, and those creatures were really nothing more than bugs now, little ants upon their god. And all the great spider could do as he watched was grin, a blush still creeping up over his cheeks as he could still feel those tiny little motions down there as clearly as he did before! How would they feel elsewhere upon him, he wondered? Would they worship him even more? What would that do to his continuing growth? Would fitting more denizens all around him only further his growth? Now he just had to know!

Soon, the surroundings of this very palm were much too large for the group to consider doing anything more than bracing and bowing down before their newfound god. The more he grew and took up their entire perspective, the more motivated they felt towards their arachnid monarch. As the great being shone its fanged teeth down on them, that dedication simply doubled, with the small, soft-skinned bugs falling to their knees in wonder and awe. How far would this deity grow for them? Their new world? Their new galaxy? No matter the situation they’d end up in, they had already resigned to their new fate of worship, it seemed.

Taranza cooed as he continued to watch the little bugs, still getting even smaller upon his growing body, bow down and worship their god. Occasionally, the most minor of squeaking could be heard, and while he was hardly able to understand the musings of these tiny alien creatures, he could tell that they must have been further words of worship! Was this how Lady Sectonia felt throughout her own rule? The feeling is absolutely addicting, and as he expanded, he might as well expand his physical rule over this puny planet. Surely, these were not the only kind who would worship if given the opportunity to expose themselves to his greatness. He brought his palm up to his mouth, pressing his lips as gently as he could to give those minuscule bugs a big kiss.

And what a big kiss it was by their immense god! The very ground shook and quivered as their very growing world itself lifted up again, a surge of weight and fierce downward winds holding them in place until it was all stopped just as quickly as it started, paused by a great impact that eclipsed them all; the great arachnid’s face was the only thing they could all see above them.

For some, a great wall blocked their vision, the very cause of the impact forcing all eyes upon its immensity. For others, the wall itself had fallen directly on them, covering them with a great weight and pitch-black darkness as even squirming seemed all but impossible before such a colossal weight. For those remaining, they witnessed the eye of this impact open up wide before falling directly on top of them, surrounding them with that same wall that was the creature’s monolithic lips. The moment they impacted the palm with an echoed ‘plop,’ a vacuum force, weighed down by the humid air that swiftly permeated around them, uprooted their frail, tiny little bodies, leaving them subject to a fate that became far more obvious as the air grew even more humid and warm, and whatever place they impacted was mired in a slimy, slick substance.

Would their god even recognize the situation it had placed them in? Probably not. Whether that was a fortunate or unfortunate situation for the tinies subject to it was anyone’s guess, but it was all but likely that they would still worship like the good little servants they should be to their god…
