The trial of the grasses, a medical/mystic procedure considered to be the first real step in becoming a Witcher. A young Witcher trainee (between 10 and 13 if I remember correctly) is given a specialized cocktail of mutagens and chemicals that induce the physical abilities Witchers are known for, including their own resistance to poisons/mutagens/potions. I think the success rate is something like 50% if I remmeber correctly.
