"F-Flick...!"

The mouse quickly turned her head a little to shush the near-silent squeak from her partner in crime, before hastily straightening herself back out again as the helmet started slipping out of place. Flick silently cursed why they ever thought sneaking back into the enemy castle was a good idea, having easily been captured as soon as they were spotted last time around. This time they'd had the foresight to disguise themselves in the same armour that was on display around the halls, and worn by the guards when in battle. Sadly, they hadn't had quite enough foresight to realize the problem that was now making itself all too obvious to them.

It didn't fit either of them.

Though Flick could easily match the guards for fighting prowess, and perhaps even best them had she been able to bring her warhammer along with her, she was still close to a whole foot shorter than the majority of them. That left the armour dangling loosely from her much smaller frame, in places only held on with makeshift strapping, and giving out a whole symphony of rattles and clanks with even the slightest of movements.

Her companion, however, had it much, MUCH worse. Aluin's excessive weight had made it tricky enough to sneak around in the first place, but getting the butterball of a groundhog into their disguise at all had been close to impossible. It was only by cannibalizing a second suit, Flick's surprising strength to bend the panels into shape around him, along with sucking in that tremendous tummy of his as hard as he could, that they had been able to squeeze the big guy into it at all. Even then, straps and panels dug in fiercely, crushing him from every angle, each faint groaning and squeaking of overloaded steel and leather a reminder that while the plans of the duo often looked good on paper, they almost never panned out that way, for the simple reason that Aluin was far, FAR too fat.

With Flick going slowly to avoid making too much noise, and Aluin doing the same to avoid bursting out of his disguise, their trek inside was taking a lot longer than they had anticipated. They had expected to have made it out already, but they still had to hide in plain sight, still had to remain as unmoving as they could against the walls whenever anyone walked past. And Aluin still had to hold his breath.

As a string of guards passed by, Aluin's body was screaming for the torture to end. He could feel the beads of sweat trickling down his pudgy face with the effort of holding back his full bulk, beginning to tremble in place a little, drawing another few squeaks as the armour simply didn't have the slack to shift with him. "Flick, please!" the groundhog whimpered. "We gotta move!"

"Wait, there's two more!" Flick hastily whispered, spotting through the edge of her eye holes a regal-looking bear appearing round the corner at the far end of the hallway, with a guard of their own duly in tow. "Just suck it in a little longer!"

Aluin, though, was right on the verge of defeat. His lungs, his muscles, even his bones, it seemed, all of them were burning with all the fury of the nine hells. His mind was now running on no more than empty fumes, and his willpower had been drained away to less than nothing. "I...c-can't...!" Aluin pleaded with an airless croak, as the edges of his vision slowly began turning a dark grey. "N-Need to...ngh!...breathe!"

"No, you'll-!" the mouse quietly began insisting, before quickly snapping into silence as the bear passed by, hair neatly tied up with a golden ribbon, glinting in the torchlight as they went. Flick steadied her breathing and stood as still as the castle she was interloping within, the only sounds the footsteps of the two foes in the hallway, muffled by the rug underfoot...

...and an ominous creaking from the suit of armour alongside her.

Chancing her luck, she slowly began turning her head toward the sound, and saw the guard momentarily come to a stop just in front of her companion. The cat took a second to examine the statue, and couldn't help noticing what Flick had noticed as well, the statue was now visibly shaking, a quiet clinking of armour against armour starting to make itself known.

Mitch blinked. Most of the decorative statues were relatively similar, but these two stuck out like a sore thumb. Much too short, much too wide, something was clearly wrong here. Peering into the eyes of the larger, trembling one, the cat gave a wry smirk, took one step back, and slowly drew his sword...as the armour gave one final, painful squeal.

Suddenly, from within the suit came a tremendous gasp, the whole thing stumbling back against the wall, dropping its sword to the ground with a dull clatter as its arms flopped to its sides, before with one great crack of splitting leather, the panel around its midsection was instantly launched at terrifying speed, crashing into Mitch with all the force of a rampaging stallion, throwing him straight back into the wall opposite with a resounding crunch of stone and yelp of agony against several pounds of rocketing, unyielding steel, leaving him in a crumpled heap on the floor, and Aluin slumped over, gasping for air, with his giant gut overwhelming his disguise and bulging back out to its full immensity.

The bear wheeled around instantly at such a sudden racket, seeing one invader frantically panting, the other staring in shock, and her escort laid out on the ground. "GUARDS!" they hollered, pointing a finger toward the revealed duo. "SEIZE THEM AT ONCE!"

"Oh, nice going, tubs!" Flick snarled, throwing her helmet to the ground as she swung her sword forward, clutching it tightly in both hands. Barging past the bear and almost knocking them over, the barbarian mouse sprinted headlong down the hallway, screaming out as she charged ahead to meet the onrushing army.

If she and her companion were going down again, she wasn't going down without a fight.
