I have fallen back in to it! Oh noz!
Love working on builds and checking out all the latest new avatar stuff. I think there is finally an avatar that could work for Mirabelle (my ground hog).
eBody's Reborn with the add-ons of waifu boobs and juicy rolls will be pretty damn close to accurate. Sh*ts gotten expensive over in the virtual world and you dont even get a full avatar out of a box... not that that was a problem for furries, we kinda took bits-n-bobs from all over to make what we needed.

You can still do a lot with the free or low-cost (< 100L, which is about US$0.40 ) avatars and accessories in SL, though. Especially if you don't mind doing some tinkering and mix-and-matching, and you're not chasing the latest "in" models just for the sake of keeping up with the latest-and-greatest.

You do have to do some digging to find the good stuff, though -- especially since several furry-avatar creators have left SL or moved on to other platforms, so there's no in-world store presence anymore and they may, or may not, still have their stuff available on the Marketplace shopping site. (And I remember trying to find things on Marketplace to be a huge pain in the butt, because its search capabilities and ability to filter results were laughably primitive at the time. I don't know if they've ever improved that or not.) But if you're persistent, and you have the building/modding skills to improvise and mix-and-match what you want out of the materials you can find, it's do-able. :-)

No I agree you can still do magic with older stuff and i love the market place. I just happen to really taken a shine to these newer options as they'd properly represent the thicc choonky body of Ms. M. They look good, no seams and even have physics now so things can jiggle realistically. I'd love to sculpt or at least make mods for avatars but I'm unsure as to what software is compatable both ways to and from SL.

Supposedly, you can use a 3D modeller like "Blender" to make mesh models and import them into SL... but I've never done it, so I don't know the details; I don't really have the knack for 3D modelling. Getting 3D assets out of SL, though? I think you can only export things that you created and imported to begin with. (Officially, anyway; I'm sure there's some "hacked" viewer out there that will let you export things you didn't create, but I'm not sure I'd trust anything like that to not be exporting other stuff, too -- like your passwords!)
