Sventon
The Pack appears
Sventon made his way through the forest in search of Ulmaldi, the morning dew sparkled in the light of the rising sun as he proceeded deeper into the forest. Luckily for him his ruse of sleeping in the kitchen had gone off without a hitch leaving neither Daisy nor Ramses none the wiser.
He had been walking for a few minutes when he happened upon a gently flowing stream, the cool water was a sight for sore eyes as he had been walking for over an hour. The breeze gently ruffled his fur as he approached the edge of the water, he sighed and leaned down to lap up as much water as he could.
In the back of his mind he couldn’t help but wonder what would happen if Daisy and Ramses woke up to find him gone, he figured they would be sore at him but he didn’t care. All that he cared about was finding Umaldi and come hell or high water. He would no matter what the others back home happened to feel about it, his ears perked up as he heard the crunching of leaves coming from behind him.
“Now what do we have here, what brings the dutiful farm dog out into the woods this far from home?” Mori inquired as she sauntered her way over to where Sventon was standing, he couldn’t help but notice that she had a certain air of beauty about her and the way her hips swayed with each step made him lick his lips as he began to yearn for her.
“What are you doing here Mori, you’re the last person I expected to find out here.”
“Well I just happened to be in the neighborhood and I couldn’t help but notice a rather handsome farm dog all by his lonesome, besides I’ve been rather eager to see you again since our last encounter at the farm.” Mori replied as she testingly drew her tail under Sventon’s chin, he growled as he shook his head bringing him back to his senses.
There was something fishy going on and no matter how much Mori turned on the charm he was determined to get to the bottom of it, he gently pushed her onto her back and growled as he stood over her leaning close to her face. “What do you want, Mori?”
She then leaned up and before Sventon could react she kissed his cheek and then gazed up at him a slight blush forming on her cheeks, she giggled as he gazed down her a slightly confused look on his muzzle. “Wait, what did you just do?”
“To be honest Sventon ever since I first saw you at the farm I must admit I found you rather handsome, you standing up to my brother like that made me all hot and bothered.”
“Thanks I guess, but if you think this excuses you from what you two did on the farm you’re mistaken.” The contempt in his voice was undeniable, whatever Mori was hoping to accomplish with this random bit of flirting wouldn’t come to pass if he could help it.
“Oh Sventon, that's a really nice way to treat a girl, especially after she just admits she admits to finding you attractive.” “I would’ve thought you would have at least forgiven me by now, but it hurts to know you're holding a grudge.” Mori replied with a dejected and pained expression plastered on her face.
Before he could even react Mori darted towards him and pushed him onto his back, the fur on his neck stood on end as she stood over him snarling and glaring at him her eyes now filled with anger. Was she going to finally kill him or did she have something much more sinister in store.
He shut his eyes and waited for the moment to come when Mori chomped down on his neck and began to tear him to pieces but it never came, he opened his eyes and realized she had stopped growling. In fact she was smiling at him and he didn’t want to guess what intentions she had hiding under that smile.
Mori then lay beside him and pulled him close to her gently nuzzling him and planting a kiss on his cheek, she smiled shyly blushing a little and then pressed her lips against Sventon’s no doubt eager to prove how much she adored him.
Sventon growled and tried to pull away from the wolf’s kiss trying hard to fight every fiber of his being that was telling him to enjoy what was happening, there was a large part of him that was still was upset about what happened on the farm, this was one of the wolves who had not only put his life in danger but killed the very livestock he was tasked with protecting.
“Mori, stop let go of me!” Sventon commanded as he wiggled his way out of the wolf's grasp. He stood up and after stretching his limbs turned to where Mori still lay a look of frustration on his face.
“Sventon, I want to apologize for what happened that night on the farm. Not only did I put your life in grave danger, I also played a part in killing the very animals you were tasked to protect.” “I understand this won’t change how you feel about me but I hope we can at least be friends.”
Mori stood up and without looking at Sventon made her way down to the waters edge and sat down. All she wanted was Sventon to be her friend but her instincts told her it was highly unlikely, her ears perked up at the sound of footsteps and she smiled as Sventon made his way over and sat down beside her.
“Well the way I see it Mori, it may take some time but if we really work at things I think we may become friends.” Sventon sighed and looked down into the water, his reflection bouncing along as the water gently churned. “I’m willing to give you a chance to prove to yourself what you do with this opportunity is up to you.”
“Thank you Sventon, I promise I won’t let you down.” Mori replied, tipping her head in a slight bow. “I know I’m on pretty thin ice with you after what happened on the farm that night, but I’m willing to work as hard as it will take to put things right.”
“Only time will tell Mori, but after all you’ve done it’s going to take a lot to convince me you’re changing.”
Mori was about to respond turning to face Sventon when a loud group of howls reached their ears, Sventon’s eyes widened and he turned to Mori frustration and disappointment easily visible on his face.
“Well so much for that it seems, you fiend you led the rest of your pack here didn’t you?”
Mori growled and baring her claws took a swipe at Sventon’s head but she missed barely by a couple of inches as he ducked out of the way.
“How dare you accuse me of leading them here, I came on my own if I had to guess my father probably sent them to find me.”
As the howls began to get closer Mori turned and began to run back in the direction she came, but she stopped and looked over her shoulder back towards Sventon stopping in her tracks. In a move that surprised him she came running back and stood in front of him ready to face whatever was headed their way.
“Mori?” he looked at her with a puzzled expression on his face wondering why she had decided to come back.
“Sventon get behind me, when the pack comes I’ll protect you.”
Another round of howls sounded through the darkness and out of the shadows came the forms of several wolves. Henrik walked in front next to a large imposing alpha with scars all over his mid section.
Upon reaching Mori and Sventon the pack stopped and Henrik snarled, baring his teeth. His eyes were full of anger and he glared at Mori.
“Well well if it isn’t the farm dog loving bitch, why are you protecting him Mori?
“Enough Henrik, you let me handle this. I’ll make your sister see reason.”
The scarred alpha wolf stepped forward and calmly gazed into Mori’s eyes, his presence demanded respect and Mori bowed her head. A soft whimper escaped her muzzle.
“Hello Father.”
Sventon's eyes widened and his ears stood straight up, he couldn’t believe it after all this time he was finally in the presence of Mori’s father. He quietly slid even farther behind Mori trying to not be as noticeable.
After a moment of silence Mori finally spoke up, “What are you doing here Father?”
“I think the answer to that is obvious my dear daughter, we’ve come to bring you home. It’s about time you started acting like a wolf and less like a pup.” He replied as he then turned his attention to Sventon who was trembling behind Mori.
“Ah this must be the young farmdog I’ve heard so much about, dont worry young one I have no grievances with you. Now come and let me see you.’
Sventon gulped and then after taking a moment to gather his composure stepped out in front of Mori into her fathers gaze.
A gentle breeze then began to blow across the lake, gently ruffling their fur as the two canines continued to gaze at each other.
“My name is Amendi and I am the leader of this humble pack, mark my words young Sventon if we should ever cross paths again there will be consequences.” Do I make myself clear?”
Sventon nodded and dipped his head, “As clear as crystal sir.”
“Good, then may this be the first and last time we meet.” “Come Mori we’re leaving.”
He then turned and walked back to where Henrik and the rest of the pack were waiting, he stopped and looked over his shoulder to see if Mori was coming.
Sventon whimpered and all the anger and resentment he had felt towards her previously melted away as he walked over to Mori and licked her cheek. Her eyes widened in surprise as she gazed at Sventon and smiled as she returned the favor.
“Sventon I want you to promise me you’ll be careful and stay safe, I hope you find your friend and that he is safe and unharmed.”
“Thank you Mori, I promise we’ll see each other again.” He smiled and gave her one last nuzzle before standing aside.
Mori smiled and then after casting one last look at Sventon she strode over to where her father waited, they turned and then disappeared into the fog rejoining the rest of their pack.
Sventon watched her go and then continued on his journey, he hoped Umaldi was safe and a smile formed on his muzzle as he thought of the story he had to tell.
