The sun was shining despite the chill in the winter air, its beautiful rays amplified in the gleam of gold resting around Infiny the Blissey's neck. She hummed softly to herself as she skipped and bounced through the light dusting of snow which had fallen the night before, thoroughly enjoying the day even though nothing of note was happening. It was such a simple joy, really, but seeing her necklace never failed to put a smile on her soft, pink face. The piece of golden jewelry had belonged to her since she was a Happiny and in all the long years since finding it, she had never once taken it off.
Infiny paused at a large, flat rock whose dark surface had melted away enough snow to offer a dry seat. Still humming the same wordless tune, she sat on its edge and lifted the pendant of her necklace up in one hand, watching the golden glints dance across the ground about her like fairies at play. The pendant was nothing more than a simple heart shape, but it had always held an air of mystery to the Blissey. Something about it felt powerful in some way, as if there was a secret contained she had yet to unlock.
"I wonder," she mused to herself, turning the pendant over in her hand this way and that. Something about the day felt as though she was on the cusp of a great discovery. Perhaps the pendant would reveal its secrets to her at last, after all. But how could she coax them out?
As she sat there wondering, the sound of paws approaching drew her attention away from the necklace. A Glaceon strolled by, clearly at home in the chilly morning air. She paused by the rock at a word of greeting from the Blissey and gazed up in admiration at the golden jewelry. "Wow, what a lovely necklace," she said. "You really are suited to wear it, Infiny."
Infiny was filled to bursting with happiness at the compliment. Before she could properly express her thanks, however, the necklace began to grow warm against her skin. "Oh!" she said, looking down in surprise at herself as the golden glow spread to cover her entire body. As the light grew stronger to compete with the rays of sunshine, a strange sensation of expansion overcame her. It was as if the entire world around her was contracting and growing smaller. When she had finally regained her wits, Infiny realized she had doubled in size.
"Amazing!" the Glaceon gasped, taking a step back. "That necklace must let you use Growth."
"But that can't be right. I already know four moves. Wouldn't I have to forget one to learn this new one?"
Glaceon sat back on her haunches and thought for a moment before replying. "Well, maybe it isn't a normal move. It could be some sort of magic, or some sort of innate ability you never realized you had before now. You must be more talented than anyone realized, Infiny!"
Once again, Infiny was filled with happiness at the heartfelt compliment. To her surprise, the golden glow returned to wrap about her like an aura and again, her body was filled with the strange, pleasurable sensation of being pumped larger. By now, she suspected she had grown as large as the metal devices humans called trucks.
"This is incredible!" she said, picking up the Glaceon and squishing her into a massive hug in her sheer exuberance. "It seems that the happier I feel, the bigger I become! Your compliment must have been what unlocked the ability."
Glaceon tried to reply, but her face was muffled against the Blissey's still-growing bulk. In fact, Infiny continued to grow at a steady rate all throughout the hug, making the embrace engulf her friend more and more. Only after this had gone on a long while did she finally set the flustered ice-type down, leaning over her and smiling brilliantly.
"Isn't this just wonderful?" the Blissey asked, still overflowing with excitement at the new discovery. "To think I've had this necklace so long and only just now discovered its true potential! I wonder how big I'll end up growing?"
"I don't know, but it really is something," Glaceon agreed, blushing slightly from the lingering feeling of being hugged by a Pokemon so big and soft.
"Why, it would be rude of me to keep this all to myself. I should go tell some more Pokemon and see what they think! I'm sure they'll all be just as impressed as you were." With a final, fond pat on Glaceon's head, Infiny skipped away into the snowy landscape, the song from earlier once more returning to her lips.
It didn't take long for Infiny to run into another passerby, although it wasn't the visitor she had been expecting. Once she had crested a nearby hill, she found herself startled by the appearance of a trainer. He was bundled up in a thick coat and winter hat, but after a moment, Infiny was able to make out the look of alarm change to excitement in his eyes.
"A Blissey!" he exclaimed, fumbling in his bag for a Pokeball. "And a huge one, at that! Catching you will make me talk of the town, so hold still for me and we can get this over with without a fight, alright?"
"I don't think so!" Infiny thought in alarm, taking a few steps away from the trainer. She had gone her entire life without ever being captured in a Pokeball and she wasn't about to let that change now just because she'd become a bigger target.
The trainer finally withdrew a Pokeball, only to drop it into the snow in alarm as the Blissey began to grow even larger. "Oh, wow! You must be a really rare Pokemon to grow like that! This is just too good to be true. Forget about the talk of the town. Catching you is going to make me the talk of the whole country! I'll be famous for sure!"
Infiny tried to turn and run, but she was too unused to her new size. The trainer was able to scoop up the Pokeball out of the snow and toss it at her before she could make it more than three steps away from him, the hard, round surface impacting squarely against her back. She cried out in alarm at the impact and closed her eyes, bracing for the flash of light which would pull her into the device. After a few moments had passed, however, she began to relax and confusion replaced the alarm. The Pokeball hadn't worked.
"I must be too big to catch!" she thought, her heart once again filling with joy.
"Im-Impossible! How could my Pokeball fail so easily?" the trainer said, but it was already too late. The happiness of not being captured caused Infiny to once again start growing. While it had been true that she was no larger than a Snorlax, that soon changed in the blink of an eye as she swelled up with cheer. The trainer dwindled down to be no larger than the smallest of Joltiks before the great, round curve of her stomach. By the time the growth spurt started to slow down, she had grown to the size of a house, perhaps even larger.
The trainer stopped partway through fishing out another Pokeball from his bag and stared up in powerless awe at the growing Normal-type before him. "Just... Just how big are you going to get?" he stammered, eyes wide in shock. Shakily, he took a step back away from Infiny, followed by another.
"As big as I want, silly!" Infiny replied, her whole body shaking with a joyous laugh. The happiness once more filled her up, causing the necklace to gleam and her body to expand with another surge of growth. Her shadow lengthened over the snowy hillside, casting the trainer in darkness even as he turned to flee back toward the town visible in the distance.
Infiny watched the trainer run with a look of amused confusion on her massive face. He was so little now compared to her, it was hard to believe she had ever viewed him as a threat, however recently that might have been. He was smaller than the smallest Bug-type Pokemon had been to her before she'd started growing. Watching him filled her with yet another surge of joy, which in turn caused her to grow ever larger. The air trembled at her increasing size, the ground rumbling with a dull murmur like the coming of an earthquake as her weight pressed ever more strongly against the rocky hilltop. She suspected that if she were to approach one of the human's houses now, she would have no chance of fitting inside no matter how big the door was. In fact, she was almost certain she had grown larger than the average house. As ever, the pleasing thought only spurred her body on to new, incredible heights.
"I should go and pay that town a visit," Infiny thought to herself, smiling brightly. "If I'm going to grow, I might as well have something to compare myself to." Without a second thought, the Normal-type began to stride down the hill toward the town, each step of her massive feet shaking the earth.
Infiny passed by a small forest, realizing with great pleasure as she did so that she was much taller than even the tallest of trees. If she were to sit down now, the vast majority of the woods would disappear under her bulk, and still she was growing larger with each step. Rather than slowing down, the growth seemed to be picking up its pace. The Blissey wondered idly about what the upper limit might be for her, but the thought brought with it no concern whatsoever. If anything, imagining growth without limits only made her grow that much quicker as her heart swelled with joy.
By the time she reached the outskirts of the town, she had at least tripled her size. The whole town would easily disappear under her if she wanted it gone. While the humans were now no larger than dots moving against the blank canvas of snow, she could see that they had come out to greet her in a way. A line of tanks had been arrayed in front of the buildings, all pointing the barrels of their cannons in her direction.
"Oh? What's this?" Infiny asked, her voice booming across the valley floor.
In response, one of the tanks at the head of the formation announced something she couldn't quite catch over a speaker system. She had grown so massive that even the humans' megaphones barely reached her ears.
There were a series of flashes and dull thuds echoing from far below as the tanks all fired on her at once. Infiny flinched at the first wave of shots, but her concern turned to rolling laughter as she realized the bullets did her no harm. In fact, the impact only tickled her. She laughed more as another salvo of shots were fired her way, doing nothing more than increasing the tickling sensation across her front. If this was the best the humans could do, she was unstoppable!
"Hey, that tickles!" she laughed, her laughter causing her to surge to unprecedented heights. The entire town was soon cast into deep shadow by her round form, her head growing to crest over the top of the hill she had once stood on. The urgent commands of the humans before her grew fainter and fainter to her ears, although she could still feel the tickling sensation of the tanks' bullets bouncing harmlessly against the pink-and-white expanse of her belly.
Within the span of a few minutes, Infiny's growth took her well above the hilltop. The town spread out before her like a miniature diorama which continued to grow smaller and smaller before her unstoppable expansion. Before long, she was big enough that a single foot could eclipse the entire settlement. She stood over it admiring the view for a time, but soon grew tired of watching the puny humans and turned to lumber off into the distance in search of yet larger things to compare herself to.
A chain of jagged, snow-capped mountains rose before her like a stone wall in the distance. Although her growth had been meteoric, the massive monoliths still rose uncontested above her. Truly, she thought, if there was anything left worth measuring herself against, it would be those. With each step carrying her hundreds of feet across the landscape, Infiny made her way eagerly toward their beckoning peaks.
A sudden flash of light beneath her brought her to a stop as she bent down curiously, inspecting what may have been the cause of the gleam. Peering closely, she was able to make out the twin forms of Zekrom and Reshiram circling one of her feet. Flashes of lightning and bursts of flame shot out against her, but she felt nothing more than a light tingling and sensation of warmth where they touched her skin. After a moment of bemused watching, she realized with a laugh that the legendary Pokemon were attacking her. The fact that such powerful Pokemon were helpless to do anything to her even when fighting at the peak of their strength elated her, sending another wave of growth up through her whole body and pushing the duo away from her merely with the force of the expansion.
"Blissey!" she said, her voice rumbling like thunder. Then, thinking to herself, added, "There's no reason to attack me, sillies! I'm just taking a walk to the mountains is all. I'll leave you two alone, don't worry."
Infiny was much too large to hear a response from the legendary Pokemon even if they gave her one, but she didn't much care regardless. She turned away from them and continued her stroll, each step clearing ever greater distances as the growth continued to fill her from top to bottom all the while.
After not much time had passed at all, she arrived at the mountainside only to realize with a pleased laugh that she had surprised the tallest of the peaks in the time it took her to approach them. Her smiling face rose above the foggy pinnacle, granting her a view to the countryside beyond. Towns and cities dotted the landscape, interspersed with forests and uninhabited hills. Rivers shone like silver ribbons winding their way toward the sea in the far distance.
Still filled to the brim with happiness, the Blissey began to sing a song to herself, the rhythm set by the thundering booms of her footsteps. The towns were nothing more than patches on a quilt to her and even as she walked by them, they seemed to grow smaller and smaller as her head reached toward the heavens. Her vision was momentarily obscured by passing clouds, their icy mist sending a shiver down her spine and leaving her face damp. After a second, however, she had poked up through the cloud layer and had nothing but pure, unobstructed sunshine to lift her heart once more.
Infiny looked down and found that her view of the ground far below was hidden behind the clouds which had been in her face mere moments ago. "I know what to do about that," she thought with a giggle. Then, inhaling deeply, she leaned down and blew hard at the clouds. Her fierce exhalation was enough to push the clouds away, not only returning her view but changing the entire pattern of weather to the landscape. The Bissey's smile grew as she realized how easy everything had become for her. She could remove the weather and didn't even need a move for it!
With the clouds gone from her sight, Infiny was able to look down upon the landscape she had once been a part of but now towered over like a beaming pink goddess. The towns and cities were now so small that she could have held the entirety of the largest settlement atop a single hand, the road so small they were little more than pencil markings upon the paper-white canvas of the snowy hills and valleys. The forests were so small she couldn't even make out individual trees anymore. Indeed, she had grown as large as the country itself.
The landscape was still growing farther away as she watched, her body expanding with a pleasurable force that sent a marvelous tingling through every inch of her rosy skin. She had no idea how big she would end up growing, but she also didn't care. The bigger she got, the better! The only thing that continued to surprise her about her situation was the fact that the magic golden necklace had grown along with her. Before long, the piece of jewelry alone would be large enough to host a whole settlement of humans on top of if she were to ever drop it by accident.
The Blissey smiled serenely, her thoughts buoyed by her incredible expansion. She had grown large enough that she could no longer see humans at all, so she was certain they would stand no chance of bothering her ever again. They could be crawling on her at that very moment and she wouldn't have even thought twice about them.
As if to prove her wrong, a brilliant flash of emerald light laced with darker shades along the edges drew her attention back to the valley beneath her. Following the light, a beam of energy shot up from the ground to impact with the titanic curve of her belly. The laser was bright enough to leave after-images in her vision, but the attack did nothing to harm her.
"How strange," she thought, leaning forward to get a better view of the laser's source and casting the land into a shadow as dark as night in the process. "Was that the humans again? I never would have thought they could do something as flashy as that!"
Another beam of light streaked upward out of the artificial darkness. This time, the attack didn't hit her directly but instead left a dark hole in reality before her. At her original size, it would have been massive. Now, however, the hole was little more than a pinprick floating in the air before her. Infiny laughed and waved her hand through it, dispersing the reality-warp like it was nothing more than a stray strand of cobweb.
"Blissey," she said with a laugh. " What a great trick! Are these supposed to be a new type of fireworks? They're very pretty, whatever they are." As she laughed in her own gleeful way, her voice rumbling through the air, more of the lasers streaked upward to disappear harmlessly against her body in flashes of multicolored light.
Infiny leaned even closer to the ground in an attempt to make out the source of the strange lights. As she did, the golden pendant of her necklace hung down off her body ever so slightly, turning this way and that in the breeze which her mountainous form had redirected merely by existing. At that exact moment, the largest laser yet rocketed up out of the darkness and hit the gleaming heart in its exact center. The entire pendant glowed fiercely with the energy as more and more was pumped into it, the brightness only increasing over time. Within the span of a few seconds, the necklace shimmered and glowed with an aurora, the curtain of ethereal lights growing to dance like a crown about Infiny's head and the heart of the pendant glowing as though it was made of pure sunlight rather than mundane gold. At the same time, the Blissey felt a sudden surge of power through her body like nothing she had experienced before. Whatever the lasers had been for, they seemed to have only super-charged her growth process!
"Oh... Oh my!" she exclaimed as her body rapidly began to expand in all directions, the rate of her growth more than tripling all at once. The beams of light continued to shoot at her, but could hardly reach more than one of her feet. Before long, even they became too insignificant to notice. Infiny's attention was almost entirely focused on the incredible sensation of getting bigger, bigger than anything that had ever lived on the planet. Perhaps, before long, bigger than even the planet itself!
Infiny only came out of her ecstatic reverie when she felt wetness splash against her feet. Looking down once more, she realized she had moved to stand in the ocean. Her bulk caused mighty waves to crash against the shore of the nearby continent, the land she had once called home. With a giggle, she realized she was equal in size to the entire landmass now, not just the country.
"This is incredible," she thought to herself as she waded deeper into the ocean. Even at its greatest depth, the cool waters could hardly come up to her belly. She laughed again as she looked down and saw that she seemed to be lifting out of the ocean as her growth continued to carry her ever upward.
From her vantage point in the middle of the great ocean, she could see not only her home continent but the continent across the ocean, a land she had scarcely known enough to even dream about in her old life. Massive waves crashed against its shore as well, made larger with the smallest kick of the Blissey's feet. Entire island chains winked in and out view as the tidal waves crashed against them only to be drawn back once more. The clouds which had once gotten into her face now rested like a tutu around her midsection, the trade winds swirling and eddying in chaotic new patterns due to the wall of her bulk interrupting their ancient, historical paths.
The newly infused energy pulsing hotly through the necklace and into her body was enough to massively increase Infiny's rate of growth beyond even her wildest dreams. The gargantuan Normal type ballooned upward and outward at a rate which was so fast it was nearly alarming. "Oh my!" she exclaimed, laughing at the pleasant sensation which only grew more intense that larger she became. Within a minute, she had grown large enough that her feet could each stand on a separate continent, her head high enough to see the far shores of all the lands on her half of the planet without any obstruction. She was much larger than her home continent now, perhaps even larger than both continents put together. If she were to sit fully in the ocean - now little more than a salty puddle to her - she would undoubtedly create a flood which would go down in history for centuries to come.
For a time, the Blissey wondered if the planet's own size would stop her from reaching her full potential. After all, how could something larger than the planet exist atop it? Surely gravity would do something strange to her and limit her glorious expansion. The thought brought a note of disappointment to sour her otherwise unstoppable glee, but it didn't last long. Seconds after the thought occurred to her, Infiny felt herself begin to wobble. She windmilled her arms for balance, the motion whipping up incredible storms as she churned the planet's upper atmosphere, but it wasn't enough to spare her from falling. With a cry of alarm, she toppled over backwards.
Rather than hitting the planet's surface, however, Infiny was held in suspension. Looking around, she realized she had fallen straight off the planet and was no orbiting its surface, having become as large as the moon. She floated serenely through space, watching with awe at the glowing surface of the planet before her as she passed strange lands she had never even heard of. She could see the footprints she had left on the two continents, along with the storms her body had inadvertently set loose. By the time she had completely a full rotation, the moon was the size of a ball to her and she had grown even larger to the point where she was the planet's equal.
Her growth wasn't done there, however.
Now that she was leaving her home planet behind in terms of scale, Infiny's attention was drawn away from the beautiful swirls of blue, green, and brown and toward the radiance of the sun. Even being twice the size of her planet wasn't enough to make her a match for the sun's grandeur, but she could still feel the growth rocketing through her body as powerfully as ever. It wouldn't be long before she was its equal.
As she glanced back to the planet, she realized with a laugh that she was eclipsing the sunlight in vast swaths across the landscape below, leaving the world in darkness each time she passed by. What was more, the path of orbit began to wobble and grow unsteady the bigger she grew. Before long, she was no longer orbiting the planet, but the planet was orbiting around her. The thought that perhaps she was not supposed to be able to breathe in the vacuum of space briefly crossed her mind, but the worry didn't last long. It seemed that she had started to develop her own atmosphere as she surpassed the largest of the gas giants in the solar system, after all, so she decided not to let the little details bother her and ruin the experience.
At that moment, however, a tickling sensation on her back drew her attention. A fleet of ships had been launched from her planet, the largest the size of a small country. They were all firing at full force with a veritable rainbow of lasers, each of the weapons directed straight at her. As before, however, their weapons were worse than useless. The energy was absorbed fully into the Normal type's body, once more charging the powers of her strange necklace.
"You're a silly bunch," she giggled, putting on a growth spurt so rapid that the fleet seemed to vanish into nothingness in the blink of an eye. Perhaps they were still there firing at her, but whatever the humans did now was officially beneath her attention.
Infiny rotated in her orbit back to face the sun. She had grown so large, and yet it wasn't enough yet. The sun still mocked her with its size looming at the heart of the solar system. Before, she had simply enjoyed growing larger, but now she had a goal. She needed to be the biggest thing she could see, perhaps even the biggest thing in the universe! She wouldn't rest until she had achieved that goal. With all her determination and the deepest happiness she could muster, she yet again increased the speed of her growth. Before her very eyes, she accelerated out and out, doubling her own size every few seconds until at long last, she was able to float before the sun and see with satisfaction she was its equal. Of course, being its equal wasn't going to be enough for her. She needed more, much more, and she wouldn't stop until she had gotten what she was now after.
The aurora-like light of her necklace began to outpace the light of the sun as she steadily started to dwarf it. Just as the moon and planet had done before, the sun wobbled in its orbit and began to spin around her, making the Blissey the true center of her solar system. She could see the other planets, each with their own moons, stretching out into the darkness of space. Each one spun around her like brilliant gems, attesting to her own power and scale. Even as she watched, however, the beautiful orbs seemed to shrink until they were mere marbles, then colored stars, then mere specks of dust. Even the sun was soon left behind as she outgrew the confines of the solar system and began to see others coalescing into the shimmering, ethereal arms of the galaxy.
Infiny spun about in space, watching the swirls of color dance about her. The galaxy now rotated around her midsection like a ballgown and she felt every bit like a cosmic princess. In the distance, across the vast blackness of empty space, she could see other galaxies like glowing algae drifting atop an infinite, dark sea. Bit by bit, those other galaxies began to drift closer to her, her own massive size growing large enough to pull even the largest of them into her orbit.
The Blissey had grown larger than any single object in the universe, she was sure. Even black holes could do nothing to her as her mass was so great they were neutralized entirely, winking out of existence as they crashed against the unyielding softness of her pastel body. With each galaxy which came to spin around her, more glittered into view on the horizon, drawn closer to her even from so many light years distant.
With a strange popping sensation and the feeling of falling out of time itself, Infiny blinked in surprise and realized she had somehow outgrown the universe. All of existence lay before her like a glittering crystal ball, and yet somehow she was still growing.
"This is my cherished possession," she thought happily, arms reaching out to hug the universe close to her chest. Then, as it shrank to the point where the dark orb was smaller than the necklace, she opened the heart-shaped locket up and slid the universe inside. It would be hers to keep for all time.
