History: Kaelum was a commoner in Romania born of parents both running from their respective countries. They had no social status but managed to run a successful waystop out on the roads in a well-traveled but remote area. At the age of 11, his parents were fed upon by a Jade Court vampire until they perished. He was fed upon very slowly, but instead of killing him, the vampire turned him. Kaelum was left alone and without knowledge of his new abilities, and fed upon another commoner girl when she tried to help him, claiming his first victim. He claims to have never done so again, but it is uncertain if that is true.
Powers and Abilities: Kaelum has the ability to make himself stronger by using the chi he has eaten. If he is well-fed, he can keep up superhuman feats of strength for extended periods, but if he pushes himself too far he risks becoming ravenous and feeding upon the next living being he sees, damn the consequences. His wings allow him to glide and ride thermals but he can't actually fly.
He has great skill with flair bartending and uses a technique he calls a Chiropocket, to temporarily store things in an extradimensional space within his wings. This can be used to pass drinks from one wing to the other, making them disappear entirely for a moment, or to secret items of power into places they shouldn't be allowed. Living beings can enter this space, but there is no atmosphere in it, no vacuum, so asphyxiation is a real risk for anyone who attempts it.
It's unknown if he has any magical skills like other old vampires from other courts, like Mavra of the Black, but the place he works in is most definitely enchanted by someone, with small spatial expansions and a physical shift between the Host Club's narrow staircase and the Cabaret's spacious atrium only a few of the augmentations. Whether it's his hearing or some enchantment, he always seems to know when trouble is brewing in the Aotsuki.
Relationships: Kaelum is on good terms with many supernatural beings in and around Japan. He and his Cabaret are contact points for the supernatural community in Tokyo and as such are protected by the loose order that replaces the rigid laws of the White Council of Wizardry in Asia. Working more similarly to the Faerie Courts, most beings in Asian countries have a vested interest in avoiding overt war between factions and all move to end hostilities if they begin in earnest. The Aotsuki Cabaret is a Neutral Territory with regards to these forces and all must behave under Guest Rights if they enter. Violating those rights is grounds for immediate smiting by every being in the building. Without restriction.
Most interestingly are the employees of the Aotsuki. Kaelum "collects" Empavores, people with an unintelligent "rider" who must be fed by drinking in the emotions of other people. Empavores cannot feed on one another, but they can feed on even supernatural beings (as can Kaelum, if they are not undead), so this arrangement allows them to "sip" the emotions that overflow from visitors instead of drinking so deeply that someone risk becoming an emotionless husk from the psychic damage. Different employees have different preferences for emotions, and they are all of various ages. Some are too young to serve in either half of his business and so he feeds those himself, playing with a bunch of Empavore cubs that leave him feeling numb afterwards. The wide array of employees and customers provides him enough willing "prey" that he doesn't need to hunt.
Jade Court Vampires: The Jade Court is made up of the kind of vampires one thinks of when thinking of qi-eating "zombies" like Jiangshi, except rather than comically hopping around, these elegant predators enjoy seducing their prey into a kiss, then they inhale, establishing a link between their Hunger and the victim's chi, their living breath. During the feeding process, the victim is unable to inhale and feels as if their breath has been emptied, one describing it as "felt like putting my lips to the void of space and trying to suck on it". Despite the lack of oxygen, a victim will not perish or lose consciousness until the feeding is complete, whether the vampire ends it voluntarily or sucks out the "spirit orb" that produces the victim's chi. If this is swallowed, the vampire gets a hundredfold the amount of energy they can normally feed upon someone for, but the victim perishes immediately. Importantly, this is not the soul. The soul still passes on as normal and is not harmed or destroyed in the process of being fed upon.
Alternatively, the vampire can take the orb into their mouth, mix it with their own corrupted chi, and breathe it back into the victim, changing them into a Jade Court Vampire. This is an immediate transformation, not a half-state like being changed by a Red Court or being born as a White Court, both of which require a fatal feeding to complete.
If a Jade Court runs low on energy, their Hunger will take over and they will become ravenous, a mindless state of violent feeding that will force them to feed to completion on whoever they can get their hands on. Human, animal, fae, or other "living" creature. They are vulnerable to faith magic and can be killed with conventional means, though they can use their stored chi to regenerate and bolster their strength and fortitude.
