Character Description
Nyx is a curious and adventurous river otter from a faraway coastal city, where fresh water meets ocean currents. He gained the nickname "Tidepaw" due to his reputation of being able to effortlessly move through strong currents with ease, almost like the tide carrying him. He stands at 2'6" tall and weighs around 22 lbs, roughly average for an otter. His signature blue hair is a defining characteristic of his, and he always takes care to maintain its color. He is always seen with his glass bead bracelet that he made from eroded beach glass that he found during his adventures, as well as his lucky fish hook that he got stuck in his foot one day after a wipeout.
Personality
Nyx has a "chaos gremlin" personality, but is very much a sweetheart. He loves to play pranks and make people laugh, often times at his own expense. He is very adventurous and competitive, but also very protective of his friends. He often acts like a lifeguard in the water, protecting new and inexperienced surfers, as well as young ones who aren't the strongest swimmers. He is the type that would happily jump off of piers for no reason, laugh after wiping out on a wave, and challenge peeps to races "just for fun."
Likes/Dislikes
Nyx has a huge passion for surfing and exploring. In his free time, when he is not in the water, he enjoys crafting jewelry from seashells and other things he has collected during his adventures. He made his bracelet out of sea glass that has been smoothed out by years of erosion, as well as his "lucky" fishing hook that he had stuck in his foot after a wipeout. He is also pretty familiar and passionate about shaping surfboards and participating in environmental conservation, and is frequently a participant in such efforts. He also has a fondness for pizza and mango, often combining the two.
His dislikes include bullies, people who pollute the environment, violence, people who disrespect newbie surfers and swimmers, politics, and overly-hot or overly-cold weather.
Background/History
Nyx was born in a faraway coastal city, known for its strong and unforgiving currents, where the freshwater river meets the ocean. As a toddler, Nyx was already establishing himself as a natural in the water, often swimming in the dangerous currents for fun. He picked up surfing when he observed older otters at the beach riding the waves, and confidently asked if he could take part in it. While he is not a professional surfer like Error and Kai, he can definitely hold his own as a young rookie.
Relatives/Family
Little is known of Nyx's parents. Nyx doesn't enjoy talking about his familial situation, often changing the subject quickly. It is likely that Nyx's parents passed away or otherwise left him to his own devices not long after he was born. As it currently stands, Nyx is by himself.
World/Setting
Coastal biome with plenty of beaches and surf breaks, same setting and world as Error and Kai.
Body
Slim and fit, a typical athletic otter boy. Blue hair (sometimes messy from being out in the water), and various brown markings around his body, most notably the wave patterns on his arms.
