A family portrait from the early days of a country still trying to become itself. A coyote family that left behind the only home they knew, carrying their entire lives in a wooden wagon with the hope that somewhere farther ahead there could be something better waiting for them. I liked the idea that this image could have been found many generations later, after their journey had already become part of the family’s history. A moment preserved before they even knew if they would succeed.
This piece was drawn entirely in pencil and framed inside an old thrift shop frame that somehow already felt like it belonged to them, I think this gives part history to the piece.
Created for the display on the Furlandia's conbook, which theme is “Wild Wild Furry West.” The convention is held in Portland, Oregon (it will be my first time in Oregon). You may get to see the original one at the Anthrocon's Art Show.
