Felt like editing this base with Phoenix, Kaichi (Lucario) and Riku (Riolu) and this is the result :3
Phoenix originally found Kaichi in a small cave, just as his egg was hatching and she gently took the little Riolu home and provided care for him. His odd colouration came from a rare "Ember-Aura Variant" of Riolu, his aura being more of a 'warm' aura than a 'cool' aura, causing his fur to turn red instead of the regular blue. Phoenix named the Riolu Kaichi (meaning 'strength' and 'energy') and gave him a special necklace which carries a jewelled pendant that she had previously found on her travels. As Kaichi evolved into Lucario, he remained close to Phoenix and acts as her guardian.
A few years later, Kaichi sensed the aura of a creature who was injured and soon lead Phoenix to some ruins, where they found a little Riolu, bruised and with a slightly bent ear tip. After bringing him to a Pokémon Centre to heal, Phoenix found out that the little Riolu was a rare type who experiences a 'mid-evolution' between its usual Riolu > Lucario one, resulting in a lankier, long-legged Riolu with Lucario-like features, and a novice in harnessing aura. Despite this however, Phoenix adores him and named him Riku (meaning 'land' and 'jewel') hinting to how unique he is with both his aura and 'mid-evolution' trait.
