And here we have the finalized designs of the tribeswomen. I took the two designs I liked the most from the previous picture and used them to show what it is I've changed. The most obvious change is, of course, the masks.
Everybody already knows how I like drawing the faces of "black-coded" anthros, so I might as well not shy away from it and make these characters' faces front and center instead of literally hiding them behind masks.
One of my earliest ideas regarding the masks was they aren't actually masks and the tribespeople's heads actually do look like that, and that there was a hierarchy based on how big or small one's "mask-head" is. However, that felt a lot like I was just doing Geometria again, since that was also all about a head-focused society where the shape and size of it designated status, so I decided against it.
In the finalized designs, I decided to do a sort of "Goggles Do Nothing" thing with the masks: They're much smaller and act more like head crests. I find it more visually interesting and it's the perfect way to see the characters' actual faces whilst still having a way to show the characters' personality.
Other than that, though... I'm pretty much ready to start drawing these tribespeople for real and get a story with them going!
