are those eyes hollowed in the back? this looks like its been kiln fired already - is that so?
Glue fur or yarn for hair when completed with painting/firing... use either super glue or hot.

It hasnt been dried yet. And it's air drying clay ^_^ And the eyes were hollowed out, then I rolled balls and popped them in. For my next bust attempt I may try drying the eyes into the clay instead. And that fur idea is pretty cool! X3 I may give it a go.

good. rookie mistake #1 is not hollowing objects out >_< such a mess in the kiln in HS lol
yes, youd be better off doing what you did this time around but rolling out a thing stripe an
laying it around the circumference of the eye an blending it so it looks seamless instead of
scary ghost like pop out of the head eyeballs XD. Id say use your real hair if a: it matched
the fursonas & b: you were going for a hair cut shortly.... also.. no ears? o.O its also very
shiny for just being air drying clay... did you over use water or use something else??

I ran out of clay D: So no ears yet! X3 Right now the bust is sitting in an air tight sandwich box so it doesnt dry out. And my fursona's hair is Blue with white/black highlights...and I'm not going blue again D: But the eye tip there is what I'll use next ^_^ So overall, as a pure newb, how do you rate my attempt? :P

I suggest a wet paper towel inside said box as well.
dont let the towel touch the clay tho... and well as
a total newb its not bad at all. I hope you hollowed
the bust out as well not just the eyeballs....

Nuuu >___> It's pure clay. Only the eyes were hollowed out. Aheh. And the box isn't big enough to put a wet paper towel in there without it touching. But I do plan on opening it up later and giving it a fine spraying of fresh water ^_^

oh dear. are you planning on firing this AFTER you air dry?
if so you better hollow that bunny out least 50% or you gonna
have an explosion on your paws. if you are just gonna air
dry it then paint youll have to wait about 2-3 weeks for it to
fully dry from inside out... and your busy while in a air tight
container might still dry out too much... spraying it might over
do it i dunno depends on how spray crazy you go

I didnt know it took that long to dry out o.o But I think I'm gonna have to let it air dry X3 I dunno if I could hollow it out without it falling in on itself like a badly made cake :(

well.. are you firing it in the kiln? if so you NEED to hollow it out some what.

I dont have a Kiln D: Just an oven! Aheh. I guess I could try hollowing it out a bit, but I may let the outside dry so it wont just...dye o.o

i dunno if you should fire clay in a normal oven unless it specifies on the clay box?
what clay are you using anyways? and you dont want it to dry out too much or youll
have a hard time hollowing...

The brand is called "Das" and it doesnt have any Kiln instructions on it. Just "Air-Hardening" o.o

also, you should dry it slowly when time comes. In a constant cold room so like.. on the floor
of a garage or such. otherwise itll crack easier. Theres a terracotta version that seems to
dry quicker than the grey clay that turns white when drying. You can sand it down easily too
when its dry.. tho i would think youll get the sanding stridation marks...  if you do get cracks
just fill em back up after with some more & some water to soften it up. IMO you are better at
the HS grade clay or super sculpy.. buuut thats just my thoughst as to what im familiar with.
I am not sure if HS grade clay needs to be fired or can just air dry too, i assume air dry but
then you dont get to use the super glossy stuff cause it requires excessive heat to use that
a normal every day oven can not provide

I was planning on glossing it by hand once I've painted it. X3 and I've done a bit of research into the Das stuff. Apparently it doesn't need a kiln at all. Pure air dry, and it does this take that long. ^_^

well you mean a cover gloss coat then... not the fire by kiln gloss paints good luck
i hope things come out then.. you dont need to hollow anything unless you want
things to dry sooner.
