Not impossible. The key is just being able to lift their body weight and the mechanism. Making a portable mechanism for partial launching especially when combined with haptic transferrent boots would probably be quite... well.
Imagine using those boots to run toward one of those gymnasium acrobatic trampoline/springs, jumping on it with more advanced engineering and materials, and going flying with all the force applied.
