A father to his people, on the mainland where over a billion dwell.
Devoted to his faith in peace in a way that the Empire could not quell
He taught the world how to fight without fighting, not strike those who mean him harm
When one carries no weapon, yet to convince the oppressor to disarm
To endure the blows, but not raise a limb to hurt another living soul
With the independence of the colony being his primary goal
He was small in stature, built thinly, brown, and often wore simple clothing
As my people say of those long gone, may his memory be a blessing
His purpose to lead his people to be free resonates deeply with me
Something I realized as a pup, when it was time for my kind to flee
Though he had hooves and I have wings, we both wished to better the world for all
Upon four horns he wore no crown but united his land to freedom's call.
