A picture that I brought from Sanssouci, of Hazel (hare) and her newly wedded husband Frost ( wolf) getting hitched. Hazels adopted sister Sylvie (rat) and her girl friend Emina (alien vixen) watch this beautiful moment unfold.

Also Frost is wearing a false tail, since he lost his real one to a yeti pack.

And Sylvie has a new robot arm, decorated with a flower pattern for this special occasion .

Update 16/8/2026

Recently I commissioned a story based on this picture from the wonderful Lei-Lani

The morning sun filtered through the dense canopy of the enchanted forest, casting shards of light
across the wooden floorboards of the cottage. Inside, the air smelled of dried lavender, cedarwood, and the faint, sweet scent of morning dew. The cottage, nestled deep within the great trees, had been transformed for the day. For it was a certain hare’s temporary bridal chambers – a sacred space of transition before her life changed forever.

Hazel sat in front of a brass mirror, her heart thumping wildly. Naturally, she was ecstatic. In just a few hours, the countdown that had occupied her mind for months would finally reach zero, and she was going to marry the love of her life, Frost, the arctic wolf.
To anyone else, the pairing of a hare and an arctic wolf might have seemed unusual, but to Hazel, it was the most natural thing in the universe. She had always been a practical soul, a realist who knew what she wanted and went after it. Yet today, she wished that time would speed up. Since she was a teenager, she had dreamed of this day; the dress she’d wear, the floral arrangements and, most importantly, the vows.

Now that the day had arrived, time seemed sluggish and agonizingly slow.
"Stand still for just a moment longer, dearest," Miriam, Hazel’s mother, a plump and jovial hare, chided gently as she adjusted the heavy white fabric of the bridal gown, her long ears twitching as she smoothed down the lace detailing along the bodice.
Beside her, Sylvie, Hazel’s adopted sister, watched with affection. “You look so cute...” the water rat sighed wistfully, her eyes shining as she carefully pinned a delicate veil into Hazel’s blue fur. “I can’t wait for my turn...”

Miriam chuckled, “One girl at a time, please,” and nuzzled Hazel’s cheek. “I’ve already lost one.”
“Oh, mother,” Hazel smirked. “You are never going to lose me.”
Miriam smiled, the warmth of nostalgia softening her aged features. She stepped back, looking at her daughter with a mixture of pride and sadness that all parents likely felt when their children grew up.
"It almost feels like yesterday when your father and I tied the knot." She drew close and rested her paws on Hazel’s shoulders. “And you...were nothing but a squirming leveret in our arms.”
Hazel rolled her eyes. “Mother...”

Miriam ignored her look and glanced at Sylvie. “And you? Why, when we had learned we basically had
inherited another daughter, we were so happy...and I only hope you will pardon us for wanting to see you a lot more often, with Hazel moving on...”
The water rat giggled, “I’ll stay with her and Frost.” She caught Hazel’s reproachful glance and shyly added, “Just kidding...” before she quickly went back to work on the veil. “Actually, I think Emina wants me to move in with her.”

“Oh?” Hazel turned to face her. “My goodness, it seems we’re both starting new lives soon.”
Sylvie smiled and stroked her cheek. “Well, you prepared me. When I first met you, I was so small, and the world felt so...wrong to me. But you practically became my mother figure the moment you found me.” She made a final adjustment and then stood back. “You always fussed over me, making sure I was okay, no matter what happened."
"And I did that gladly," Hazel replied, her eyes wet with new tears, and squeezed Sylvie’s good paw.

Sylvie had been born missing her right arm, a fact that had never slowed her down. Today, however, she wore a striking, pristine white robotic arm. It was a marvel of engineering, sleek and fluid in its movements, and for the occasion, it had been beautifully decorated with blue-and-purple colored roses. The arm was a gift from Emina, Sylvie’s girlfriend. Every time Sylvie moved the prosthetic, she felt a profound connection to the brilliant, bubbly technician who had crafted it with such meticulous care. It wasn't just a piece of technology; it was a testament to love, bridging the gap between two very different worlds.

Hazel looked at her sister’s arm, then up at Sylvie’s glowing face. "It’s beautiful, Sylvie. Emina truly outdid herself."
"She did," Sylvie agreed softly, her cheeks flushing a faint pink under her fur. "She wanted to make sure I had something perfect for your big day."
Hazel turned back to her reflection in the mirror and sighed deeply, and for the hundredth time that day, wondered how her groom was getting along across the woodland lake.

**

A thin veil of mist hung over the surface of the lake, completely undisturbed by the wind. Frost stood at the water's edge, his white tunic, vest, and pants, and his thick, snow-white fur contrasting sharply with the deep greens and earthy browns of the enchanted forest.
As he looked into the water, he felt entirely alone just then, his mind a jumble of emotions as he thought about the commitment he was about to make. It wasn't that he doubted his love for Hazel, for he loved her more than life itself. It was the weight of the future that bothered him now.
Suddenly, he heard movement behind him and flinched, his sharp wolf ears pinning back as he swung his head around, startled out of his reverie.

Approaching him through the ferns was a tall, distinguished black-furred male hare. It was Richter,
Hazel’s father. He held a wooden pipe in one paw, a thin trail of aromatic smoke rising from the bowl.
"Feeling nervous?" Richter asked, his voice a deep, comforting rumble.
Frost sighed deeply, and his shoulders slumped. He looked back toward the misty lake, his paws resting on his belt. "A bit," the arctic wolf admitted honestly. "To be completely fair, Richter... I'm standing here wondering if I'll actually make a good husband for her. She’s... she’s perfect. And I want to make sure I can give her the life she deserves."
Richter walked up beside the large wolf and took a slow draw from his pipe. "Let me stop you right
there," he said gently but firmly. "You are perfect for Hazel. I don't just think that. I know it."
Frost looked at the hare, searching his eyes for any sign of hesitation, and found none. “You really think I’m the one?”

Richter replied without smiling, looking at the water. "Ever since you moved in with my daughter, I have watched her change. She has always been a bright girl, but since you became a part of her life, she’s become a lot happier. A father notices these things, Frost. Her smile is brighter, her laughter is constant, and she seems more at peace than ever before." He tapped the stem of his pipe against his palm.
"Besides, my daughter's happiness is my happiness. She means the absolute world to me. Seeing her

look at you the way she does... that’s all the proof I need. Soon, Frost, you can officially become my son- in-law. You will be a true, official part of our family."

The warmth in Richter's words broke through Frost's anxiety. “I’ve never been happier either...” the wolf sighed and turned to face him. “Every day I’m with her, I’m happy.”
The elder hair grinned and offered the wooden pipe to him. "Here. Give it a try. The tobacco will calm your nerves. It’s certainly helped calm mine."
Frost accepted the pipe, and the two chuckled as the wolf took a slow pull of the smoke. The rich, earthy flavour filled his senses, and as he exhaled, he felt the tight knot in his chest loosen. The anxiety he had felt moments before lifted, and after a few more deep breaths, he felt more himself.
"Thank you, Richter," Frost said quietly, handing the pipe back. “Well, I guess...Dad soon, huh?”
"Anytime, Frost. And soon, son," Richter replied with a wink. "Now, let’s get you to the altar. We
shouldn't keep the bride waiting."

**

The wedding venue was a breath taking clearing deep within the heart of the ancient woodlands.
Massive, ancient oaks formed a natural cathedral, their high branches intertwining to create a ceiling of vibrant green leaves. Sunlight sifted through the canopy, illuminating a path covered in soft green moss and scattered white petals.

At the front of the clearing was the altar, constructed from a weathered fallen log, adorned with ivy and blooming lilies. Waiting patiently by the altar was the minister, a majestic unicorn whose horn glowed with a faint, ethereal silver light, his eyes holding the wisdom of centuries – a fitting guide to bind two
souls together.

Frost stood beside Richter at the altar, his posture tall and proud now, the nervousness from earlier completely replaced by an intense anticipation. His white fur seemed to glow against the dark bark of the surrounding trees.
The audience was a sea of movement and color. Hazel’s family had turned out in massive numbers. Rows upon rows of wooden benches were filled with jackrabbits and hares. Older uncles whispered to one another, aunts adjusted the clothing of rowdy children, and dozens of cousins, brothers, and sisters waved and chatted excitedly.

Among the crowd, sitting near the front, Sylvie sat quietly with her girlfriend, Emina, a ravishing orange-furred vixen with vibrant, electric-blue hair that cascaded down her shoulders, and a long, matching blue tail that twitched with restless energy. Emina was a master mechanic, the very person whose brilliant mind and skilled paws had built Sylvie’s robotic arm. Her personality was bubbly, a complete contrast to Sylvie’s quiet, grounded nature.

As they waited for the ceremony to begin, Emina leaned in close to Sylvie, her large ears perking up in excitement. "Hey, Sylvie," she whispered, her tone playful. "Look how beautiful everything is. It makes me think... when are we going to tie the knot? Hmm? When do I get to see you in a fancy dress?"

Sylvie’s ears flushed a deep crimson, and she chuckled, embarrassed, squeezing Emina's paw tightly.
"Let's get through my sister's wedding first, huh?" she whispered back affectionately, though the look in her eyes made it clear that she wasn't entirely opposed to the idea.
Before Emina could tease her further, a sudden hush fell over the entire clearing. The murmuring of the dozens of hares ceased instantly. The soft rustle of leaves seemed to swell in anticipation.
At the back of the aisle, the foliage parted, and Hazel appeared, her heart leaping to her throat as she saw the sheer number of eyes turning toward her. Beside her stood Miriam, smiling flimsily, as she led the girl by the paw and walked down the mossy path. As they walked, the heavy layers of white fabric, while stunningly beautiful, made every step difficult. Moving through the natural, uneven terrain of the woodland floor in a full bridal gown was no easy feat. Each step required some effort, making the walk feel like she was at the bottom of the lake itself. She began to understand what the journey truly was.

These are the first steps to a new life, she thought.
As she walked, her focus narrowed entirely until there was only one person left in the universe.
At the end of the aisle stood Frost. He watched her approach, his eyes wide with a flow of emotion. He smiled at his bride, the hare who had brought warmth into his frozen world, and his heart swelled to the point of bursting.

Finally, after what felt like a lifetime of traveling down that short forest path, Hazel reached her husband-to-be and stood next to him, a bit unsteady. Miriam gently released her arm, giving her a final, loving pat on the back, and a reassuring squeeze on her shoulder before stepping aside to join Richter.

Hazel stepped up onto the mossy platform of the altar, and Frost reached for her paw, holding it
comfortably within his own. They turned to face one another, staring deeply, lovingly into each other's eyes. The forest around them seemed to fade away. Even though several pairs of eyes were watching them, they felt entirely alone in their own private world. The noise of the crowd, the rustle of the leaves in the wind, even the swishing of the dress, all had faded.

The unicorn minister began to speak. His voice was a melodic, resonant sound that seemed to echo not just through the clearing, but through the very trees themselves. He spoke of the balance of nature, of the coming together of two different paths, and the ancient power of love that could bridge any gap between wolf and hare.
Yet, for Hazel and Frost, the minister's speech went by quickly. They were so utterly lost in one another's presence that the profound words washed over them like a warm breeze, beautiful but entirely secondary to the unspoken vows they were already exchanging with their eyes.

Suddenly, a slight shift in the minister's tone snapped them both back to reality. "Ah, I say again, the rings, please," the unicorn smiled, trying to be patient.
“Oh!” Richter stepped forward, presenting two simple, elegant rings forged from silver and inlaid with a thin strip of polished green woodland stone, symbolizing the earth that had brought them together.

Frost took the smaller ring. His paws trembled slightly as he looked into Hazel’s eyes and slid the band onto her finger. "With this ring, I bind my life to yours," he whispered, his voice thick with emotion. Hazel then took the larger silver band and slid the ring onto Frost’s finger. Her smile seemed to add its own light to the sun. "With this ring, I promise you my forever."
The minister looked at them both, and his horn flared even more brightly. "By the ancient laws of these woods, and by the power vested in the spirits of the wild, I now pronounce you husband and wife." He grinned and bowed his head slightly. "You may kiss the bride."

Frost smiled and leaned into Hazel, slipping his arms around her waist and locking mouths eagerly with her, adding a bit of his tongue to her own as they shared a passionate kiss, earning a few cheers and lewd remarks from the assembled, followed by an eruption of applause.
The dozens of jackrabbits, hares, and cousins cheered at the top of their lungs, stomping their feet and whistling. Sylvie clapped excitedly, her white robotic arm making a rhythmic, metallic sound alongside Emina, who was jumping up and down with her blue tail swishing wildly through the air. Even the stoic Richter had a tear rolling down his furred cheek, his arm wrapped tightly around Miriam, who was openly weeping into a handkerchief.

Hazel and Frost finally broke the kiss, turning toward their family and smiling brightly, their paws still locked tightly together. The long journey of waiting, of dreaming since adolescence, and of overcoming the anxieties of the future was over. They had officially reached the next stage. Standing together, they had successfully taken their relationship further and were ready to step hand-in-hand to the next level of their lives.
