Sai didn't immediately bring up his jealous moment when he saw Dillon talking to a girl feline. But it still ate at him. The caracal had interpreted Dillon's last talk about the blow job as if he may be open to a relationship... but if a girl was getting involved.. would Dillon take the safer option?

Later that week, Dillon stayed over at my place for the first time since he ran out after I sucked him off. I already told myself strictly that nothing was going to happen like last time - it had nearly broke our friendship clean down the middle.

While watching our favorite popstar on television, the jealousy ate at me. While the television was showing a rerun, I nudged the subject- I asked about school, about hanging out during lunch with me, and eventually: "I saw you talking to some girl..."

The words hung in the air. Sai's lips quivered, almost in a cry or almost in anger. Dillon picked up on it immediately.

"Yeah..." he admitted casually. "She seemed to like me."

That was like an anvil falling onto Sai, as his ears lowered and his gaze fell to the hardwood floor.

"She was nice but I didn't really want to talk to her," Dillon admitted, turning his body toward me. My eyes locked onto his again. "It was uncomfortable. I'm still trying to figure things out, but a lot of girls just seem too... performative."

I recognized the word we were taught in English class to express themes of a character.

"You're more fun to be around, Sai," Dillon said with a smile before turning back to the television.

Did Dillon really just say that? Sai thought, bewildered and hope blossoming. Sai remained quiet, but he stood up and went to sit next to Dillon, shoulders brushing. Dillon smiled shyly over at Sai, his ears falling a little. The caracal smiled back before they both turned their attention back to the television.
