Hello to you all, my name is SSF (or it would be; mods, please read the support ticket). I'm a trained Neoclassical/Academic artist from the US who specializes in anatomy and zoology. I have been seriously drawing for about 3 years now, but I've only been working with anthros for a few months.

To say that it has been an uphill battle would be an understatement. My chosen art movements require one of two things: either an explicit reference of a model (whether live or a photo) or enough anatomical study material that one could easily construct forms on their own (3D resources are especially helpful). However, standardized facial and cranial anatomy for anthro characters does not exist.

There are 3D models from various artists of furry heads, but no universal starting process or proportions. Even more, there's no Loomis method or Asaro-like geometric deconstruction, and given that I'm writing a story about a scientific, hybrid based-approach to furries, this lack of resources meant I had to make my own. That process was miserable. To try and put it into paradoxical words: in order to make an adaptable 3D geometric reference for anthro heads, I had to make a reference without references to use as a reference since the references I needed to make my reference didn't exist.

Here's a breakdown of the sketch provided: The pre-frontal cortex and cranial vault have been expanded to account for increased cognitive ability and human hair formation. What you will notice in many non-hominid animals is a lack of a protruding forehead, something I have hopefully remedied in a true human-animal hybrid fashion. The eyes are more noticeably human, and the nasolabial have been adapted to a muzzle. The boy has subtle lips that allow for complex speech sounds and suctions, but they are hopefully not so apparent that they immediately stick out. The ears meet the head in a fashion somewhat inbetween that of humans and animals, made easier by the fact the acoustic meati of canines are significantly lower than the ears would have you believe.

The boy is based heavily on Caravaggio's Cupid and some W.A. Bouguereau paintings, as you may have noticed. I hope I have successfully captured and implied the 3D nature of his head. Feedback on how this anthro anatomy looks to the average furry would be appreciated, as I have not seen any other Neoclassical/Academic takes on anthros that didn't almost paste a fully animal head onto a human body. The more common cartoony anatomy of many furry characters, while excellent art and designs, have trouble translating to the style I was trained in. Also provided are other recent traditional works I've done to "prove" my training isn't a lie.

(Exclusive InkB tangent) Hey, Merenhor. So I wasn't capping, that motherfucker scammed me out of a whole digital painting and virginal model. A bit of backstory. I work as a math tutor at my university, and one of my assigned students asked me to draw a character. I guess he had seen me sketching anatomy at one point and he figured that I might be able to draw art of a character he liked. Truth be told, if it wasn't for him, I probably wouldn't even be making anthro art now.

At any rate, I said I was busy and it would have ended there if he didn't know I'm a huge baroque and classical nerd. He said Merenhor's character Alex played the clavichord and double virginal, and as those are really niche instruments, I wanted to do it for that fact alone. Game recognizes game, or so I thought. However, as I stated, I am a Neoclassical artist, and so I take detail very seriously. I scoured far and wide for a double virginal model to use is CSP, but nothing showed up because it's a really niche instrument. Luckily for Alex, who I THOUGHT played the virginal, I am an engineering major adept in technical design and Blender. This meant I would have to model an entire double virginal, but I figured that such a niche instrument was worth the effort.

So as I was working today on a raccoon character that I planned on posting in a few days from now, I see that two people are streaming and happen to click into one of them named "Merenhor." I get into the stream, and hey, there's the virginalist I'm drawing. I tell him I really like the character detail concerning the virginal, and he tells me that he has no idea what I'm talking about. Alex does NOT play the virginal, or any instrument apparently, and the skunk that that lying asshole showed me does not play the violin. So not only did this jackass scam me out of a violin composition, but he also scammed me out of an ENTIRE FUCKING PAINTING AND VIRGINAL MODEL. I'm like two dead layers into this painting and I happen to click the one streamer that owns the character.

I won't post the unfinished piece, as it won't really make visual sense until it's done. Truth be told, I'm not sure if I'll finish it or do a simpler digital silverpoint. But for reference on how my finished work somewhat looks, just look up a Neoclassical painting. I don't know if my examples here proves that I can at least draw and paint at a semi-professional level, but just realize that someone scammed me out of what would have been a fully rendered painting. If you're reading this MysMagN*gMancer, you are a lying bitch ass motherfucker.
