Episode 31: plane crash
Two years passed and the life of Jerony and his spy puppies, The Pups Gang, grew more exciting with each new missions.
Adventure City had become a playground for their covert operations, where they'd save the day without so much as a tail wagging out of place.
At Jerony's luxurious house.
At that time, puppies were in the backyard, relaxing by the pool.
But at that moment, Jerony and Hershell were not there because they were on a mission in Mexico. The mission was to save a kidnapped scientist who had developed a device that could control the weather.
"You know... Yesterday we should have joined Master and hershell on their mission," Maxtone said to Svara, his eyes reflecting the cool blue of the pool.
The sun had begun to higher, casting long shadows across the yard.
Svara's ears perked up, "I know, but we had our own assignment... Remember? Protecting the city while they're away."
Meanwhile, Jerony and Hershell are on their way back to Adventure City with their private jet after successfully completing their mission in Mexico. They managed to save the scientist and retrieve the weather-controlling device before it could fall into the wrong hands.
The jet's engine hums smoothly as they soar over the vast expanse of the Grand Canyon, the grandeur of nature a stark contrast to the covert world they live in.
One and a half hours later, they began to cross the forest area in the outskirts of Adventure City. The trees grew denser, the air fresher, hinting at the familiar scent of home.
Jerony, at that time he was a pilot and flew his own jet, glanced at Hershell, who was sitting in the co-pilot seat, his diaper slightly bulging from excitement.
"Almost there, buddy," he said, smiling.
Hershell looked up at him, his eyes sparkling with anticipation.
"You know, Master... I would like to go on the next mission with you," Hershell confessed, his paws fidgeting with the jet's controls.
"Yeah... You had been very helpful for me," Jerony said, his gaze back on the horizon "but I need to make sure you're more ready... You're still the youngest and the most... Let's say 'accident-prone' of the bunch."
He chuckled, patting Hershell's head gently.
But suddenly, on the radar screen, a flash of red caught Jerony's eye.
"What's that?" he murmured, leaning closer to the display "looks like we've got some unfriendly company."
"Hershell... Check on the satellite cam," Jerony said urgently, his voice tight.
Hershell's paws flew to the control panel, his tail thumping against the jet's wall. The screen flickered before displaying the image of a missile, speeding towards them like a fiery snake in the sky.
"Oh no... It's a missile," Hershell squeaked, his heart racing.
Jerony's grip tightened on the controls as he assessed the situation calmly.
Outside of the jet, the missile grew larger with every second. The air around it shimmered with heat, the sound of its approach a growing roar.
Inside, the tension was palpable as Jerony's eyes darted between the missile on the radar and the skies ahead. He had to make a decision, and fast.
But suddenly, the missile getting closer to the jet engine and then hit the tail wing. The jet jolted, sending the instruments on the dashboard haywire.
"Master! We're hit! We're hit... We will fall!" Hershell yelped, his voice trembling with fear.
Jerony's eyes widened.
"Hold on tight, Hershell!" He shouted over the screeching of metal and the howling wind.
His hands danced over the controls with the grace of a maestro, trying to stabilize the jet. The ground grew closer, a blur of greens and browns beneath them.
"Hershell... Take the parachute and get out of the jet, quick!" Jerony shouted out the order, his voice tinged with urgency "use the emergency exit!"
"How about you, Master?" Hershell asked, fear gripping his little heart as he watched the world outside spin.
"Don't worry about me... Get out now!" Jerony's voice was firm, his eyes never leaving the chaotic instruments.
Greatly forced by his master's command, Hershell grabbed the parachute with trembling paws and stumbled towards the emergency exit. He looked back at Jerony, his eyes filled with concern.
Jerony gave him a nod of reassurance, and with a whine, Hershell jumped out of the jet, the wind rushing past his fur as the parachute billowed open above him.
Not long after Hershell came out of the jet, he could see the jet finally fall into the forest and a very large explosion occurred, sending flaming debris scattered across the woods.
His heart sank as he watched the jet, which had been his and Jerony's safe haven, plummet to the ground.
"Master!!!! Noooo!!!!!!" Hershell's cries were lost in the roar of the wind and the distant thunder of the explosion.
Hershell couldn't believe, his master, the person he looked up to, was gone. Tears welled up in his eyes as he descended towards the ground, the parachute above him the only comfort in the chaotic sky.
His mind raced with images of Jerony's smiling face, the gentle way he petted his head, and the way his voice had calmed him during their most dangerous missions.
