When we tried to come up with a place Zaphira and her sisters could hold their "Farewell to Freedom Party," we wanted to come up with something truly fitting for a royal night out :)
Something fancy and expensive; a place with something that makes it unique. That's when the genie lantern idea came, because what could make a place stand out more than a lantern with a real genie! Well, it's just a replica now, but still! At first it was just on a pedestal, but then we decided to give it a whole dedicated little shrine in the wall to make it look even more important than it already is.
We wanted the whole place to look like the home of a genie. Everything is shiny, bright, every nook and cranny is as comfortable as possible. You could sit or lie down anywhere :)
At first we didn't know who should run this place, so we came up with the ibis lady as the owner. Then we realised that such a renowned place couldn't be run by a single person, so we tried to come up with some staff or waiters, and in the end we went with a small group of meerkat "clones" :D They all look alike, but they are always everywhere, watching the guest's every need and wish :) And how many of them are there exactly? Only the gods know XD
I kind of like the idea that the meerkats are intelligent simulacra - the product of a wish made long ago by someone wanting a horde of servants catering to their whims and those of their guests. Therefore, there are as many as there needs to be at any given time. Having outlasted their wishmaker, they continue to fulfill their purpose by serving guests.
