Looking at the two large double doors, a white furred mouse with light blue hair was dressed in a sharp red tuxedo. He gulped as he was beyond nervous on what to even do. The mouse was unable to find a date as he is not great with talking to girls, nor some of the boys he liked as he would have been ridiculed with more bullying.
He began to think this was a terrible idea and should head home instead to play games with his little sister, but he felt a hand rest on his right shoulder. "Vinny, I know you are nervous. However, your mother and I insist that you do this." Vinny looks up to his right to meet his blue eyes with another set of blue eyes.
His throat clenched up slightly as he could hear some of the music pass the doors. "But mom... you're dressed in... that." He gestures with one hand of the skimpy yet tight looking maroon dress that held around the kitsune. Shade giggles before running a hand over his hair, "Oh sweetie, you need to relax. I've seen how some of your classmates dress. You really think this is a bad thing?"
Vinny could only feel his own brain shoot itself. Bad thing? Sure, the first thing he could think is that his mother is dressed like a slut. Nobody is going to let this go after this if they go in. "Mom. Is there anyway I can convince you that we can just--"
She places a finger on his lips. "Ah ah ah! You've come this far young man." Wrapping an arm around his waist, Shade pulls Vinny closer to her side, "Whose really going to care that you brought your mother to the prom?"
Before he could protest further, Shade grabs onto one of the doorhandles and pulled one of the doors open. The sound of dance music floods out as the two walk in. Several other high schoolers were inside the large gymnasium. Some were on the dance floor partaking in the music with either some friends or their own dates. Others chilled around the party table with snacks and drinks, along with fondue fountains. Then there were the ones who were hanging around the sides to chill away from the loud festivities.
Vinny felt a lump in his throat as he felt the stares of some of his classmates looking in their general direction. His mother on the other hand was wearing a warm smile as she walked with her son further into the gym. "See Vinny? It's not that bad."
As the two pass by a few students, the mouse's ears perk up as he heard someone speaking.
"Hey, there's Vinny."
"Damn... the hell did he find her? She's hot!" This was followed by a slapping sound. "Ow! What? She is."
"Bro... look at the way she's dressed. I'm surprised I don't see nipple with how tight it looks."
The mouse could only cower on the inside from the comments. "Welp... good bye social life. Barely knew you." Shade chuckles slightly before rubbing his cheek with her free hand. "Oh come now sweetie, you know you shouldn't be that embarrassed with me. Imagine what your other mother would do."
Vinny's eyes widen from the sheer thoughts of what Melissa would be doing if she took Shade's place. "No thank you." She then let go of his arm, "Haha, that sure didn't take much convincing. Now come on, let's enjoy."
The mouse sighs as he follows after his mother to the dance floor and watches as she gets into rhythm with the current song. "My my, haven't heard this one in years. Glad to see you kids have some taste." Vinny tries to step away, but Shade quickly notices him trying to retreat and reaches forward to grab his hands. Without saying a word, she winks at him and begins to dance with her son.
From the crowd a few of the boys were watching. A goat in a grey tuxedo taps onto an avian in a blue tuxedo, "Yo look at that. Didn't think tiny Vinny had it in him to ask a girl out." The blue feathered bird turns from the girl he was talking to. He held back laughter as he saw Shade dancing. "Kevin you idiot. That's his mom."
Kevin's eyes go wide as he does a double take, "No way! That hottie is his mom?" He then turns to his friend, "You think she's single?"
This is followed by a fist coming down on his head right between his horns. The avian rolls his eyes before looking behind him to a tall looking lizard in a green tuxedo that almost matches his scales, "Thank you Ignis." The lizard looks down, "So what now Ollie? The pipsqueak is begging to be roasted."
Ollie smiles as he looks back at the duo dancing, "Unsure if you mean that one way or another after the last time when you actually tried to eat him, but I'm sure he could use another ribbing." Kevin slowly stands back up while rubbing his head, "Ow... my eyeballs hurt."
Meanwhile at the snack tables, a brown feather hawk girl in a silver dress was watching the dance floor. Her eyes immediately land on the mouse dancing on the floor with another girl. Followed by the sharp sound of snapping near her head. "Telma!"
Letting out a gasp, Telma turns her head and looks at her friends. The orange furred feline in a matching silver dress brought her hand back, "Girl, you immediately zoned out there. What caught your eye that quick?" She then brushes the bangs away from her left eye as she looked at the dance floor. Her eyes look dead set on Vinny, "Like, oh, my, gods. Isn't that Vinny?"
Telma grasps onto her feathered arms, "Yeah. Didn't think he was coming as he wasn't too thrilled about it when we talked. Wonder what changed?" Her eyes looked over at him again as he was soon bowing backwards as his mother held onto one of his hands as a new song had started. One with a more upbeat samba. The hawk's eyes move upward towards Shade as she pulled Vinny back up and went into a more sensual dance with him. ("Isn't that Miss Nightwing?")
A few dances later
Vinny and Shade walked over to the snack table. The mouse was still nervous but after a few dances, he began to feel a little bit at ease. What made him relax a little bit was some of his classmates asking if his mom would teach them some of the moves she did on some of the dances.
The kitsune reaches for a metal stick to poke through some cocktail sausages and dipped it into a cheese fountain, "Ha... I haven't danced like this in a long time. Sure works up a bit of an appetite." Vinny couldn't help but chuckle as he looks at his mother, "Honestly mom, what doesn't make you hungry? Didn't you put away a four pound steak a month ago?"
She could only smile before bringing the cheese coated weiner to her mouth and biting down on it to pull the sausage off the stick and began chewing it. Once she swallows and licks her lips, she jabbed the stick into another, "That's because I was helping your Uncle Georgie move furniture into Aunt Veronica's house. Despite how well they are physically, I'm still helping them out regardless. It's what family does for each other."
Vinny felt sheepish now as he realized this is what she was doing this whole time. "Right..." he then looks down at some of the cheese platters. Reaching forward with one hand, he picks up some cheese with some crackers and made himself a small sandwich before popping it into his mouth.
Shade couldn't help but giggle, "You know, that reminds me of the times when you were little. You just loved when your mother and I made little meals. I remember when we made a plate of hoarderves for a picnic. Oh the cute face you had when you were digging into it in the kitchen."
The mouse flattens his ears a bit as he rubs his head. "I really thought it was for me, okay? Small foods are appealing to me and I have no idea why." As he reaches for another set of crackers, his hand bumps into a feathered one, causing the mouse to look to his left and see his friend standing next to him, "Oh! Hi Telma."
She looks at him before retracting her hand, "Hi Vinny. Really thought you were going to miss out on this." She looks behind his shoulder and watched as his mother sucked down another sausage, "Hello Miss Nightwing." The kitsune smiles before swallowing, "Oh if it isn't Telma! How have you been? It's been a few months, hasn't it?"
The hawk nods before grabbing a slice of meat off of a platter, "I've been doing well. What brings you here though?" Vinny closes his eyes and sighs a bit, "She's uh... my date tonight." Telma blinks as she looks at the mouse. Shade quickly interjects as she places a hand on his head and rubs it, "I know Vinny is embarrassed that I came with him, but I insisted to so I can help cheer him up." She then gives him a tender hug from behind, "You'll get your confidence soon honey. After all, you never know who is going to be the lucky guy or gal to say yes to you."
"Mom! Stop it!" Vinny squirms slightly from the hug, his face slightly red from her words. The hawk girl couldn't help but chuckle in his predicament. "You are such a dork Vinny. That's why you wanted to blow this off?" She then reaches forward and yanks him out of his mother's grip to put him in a weak headlock to rustle her feathered hand over his head, "You still got me around, I wouldn't mind hanging with you at all."
Shade watches as Vinny breaks free from the headlock and runs his hands over his hair to fix it. Her eyes glance at Telma's as she looked at her friend. ("Hmm... is that what I think it is?") Telma looks over at Shade for a moment before looking away somewhere else quickly. The kitsune smiles as she swore she saw the faintest blush on her face. ("Ha! I think this is what Lulu meant by the "birdbrain".")
This was where Ollie and his crew walked over to the snack area. The blue avian sneaks behind Telma, "Well hello there beautiful, mind if I join?" The hawk rolls her eyes, "Ugh... what do you want Ollie? If it's about comparing our track records again, then go away."
He laughs, "Sharp tongue as always. I respect that." He then moves his gaze towards Vinny, who was trying to avoid his. Ignis reaches beside the mouse to grab some cheese from the platter to eat, and Kevin held a pretzel stick in the chocolate fountain before chomping down on the syrup soaked rod. "Hey Ollie, you gotta try this out. This stuff tastes amazing."
Shade raises an eyebrow at the goat beside her, "You should try both while you are at it." He looks at both fountains for a moment, then at her with a lit up expression in his eyes, "You're reading my freaking mind lady." He then picks up another pretzel rod and began soking it in both fountains at once.
Ignis and Ollie look at the goat before shaking their heads. The lizard then places a hand on Vinny before pulling him away slowly from the table. The blue avain looks at Shade as he sizes her up, "Miss Nightwing presumably." Shade turns her head to look at the main bully, "That would be me."
He then bows slightly, "A pleasure to meet a woman of your discerning tastes." Shade immediately saw through his words. Having dealt with many men and women from The Heavenly Nine, she is familiar when the words have an empty feeling to them. "A pleasure it is. Though I think there is plenty of room to go on the snacks. No need to crowd one area after all."
"Oh no need. We mainly just wanted to talk with little Vinny here. After all, we just wanted to know where he found the time to convince his own mother to come to a high school prom." Vinny attempts to walk away but felt a large arm grab him by his chest and pulled him back. "Maybe we should go back to dancing. I hear they have club music."
Ollie let's out a small laugh. "Oh please Vinny. We know you choked up when trying to ask Felicity out for the prom. We just wasn't expecting you to bring your mother here dressed like someone in a very specific establishment." He points towards Shade's dress, "If anything, we think you are just trying to show off."
Telma smacks Ollie in the side, "Shut up Ollie. You have no room to say such things about Miss Nightwing." Ignis looks at Shade, "How can he not? She's dressed like a prostitute. Kevin here is drooling over her outfit." They all turn their heads to the goat, who was wiping his mouth off from chocolate and cheese. "Man, chocolate and cheese go together way better than I expected."
Shade turns her head back towards Ollie, "Goat aside from his... own little world. You seem a bit cold about my outfit. Is there nothing wrong with it, let alone showing off your body a bit? Some of the other girls here have something skimpy on. Already saw one without a bra." Ollie walks a few steps away as he held his own feathered hands up, "Be that as it may, it really says a lot for how much Vinny "loves" his mother."
This causes the kitsune to furrow her brows, "Are you insinuating that I had sex with my son?" Telma looks at Vinny as he was still trying to walk away, but Ignis kept pulling him back. "Knock it off you dick!" Ignis smirks before pulling on Vinny harder, bringing the mouse in to trip on his own feet and land against his mother. "Oh would you look at that? Guess he wants some special time with his mom."
Vinny blinks a bit as his face had landed in his mother's chest. ("I knew this would happen...") he then feels soft hands grab onto his ears and rub them, "Maybe he does need some special time. However, let me say this. I can at least make him feel special and loved like no other person can." Shade then gestures with one finger for Telma to come closer to grab Vinny. The hawk follows the signal and approaches to lift the mouse up off her cleavage.
The kitsune then approaches the blue avain, "But let me tell you this hot shot. I am well old enough to know how some of you work. You're what? Seventeen? Eighteen?" She then presses a finger into Ollie's chest and started pushing him back from the table, but more importantly, away from her son. "That attitude of yours is easily readable and boy, I can be your grandmother and beat your ass till you learn to respect your elders."
Some of the other students looked as she kept her stance and Ollie started to back away slowly, "Hey, take it easy. It was just a small jab." Her eyes glistened with fierceness, "Oh so poking fun at someone who brings along their mother for a fun event to spend time with her means one can think that he is getting laid? Then tell me feather boy, how many times have you been laid? I'm all ears to hear."
The avian understood now that he had poked the beast and soon ended up against a wall, "Well? I'm waiting young man." One of the teachers approached the two to tap onto Shade's shoulder, "Miss, I ask of you to step back from him please." Turning her head to look at the yellow feathered avian, "And let this delinquent continue harassing my son?"
The teacher places a hand on Shade's to pull it away, "I'll take it from here. I have been keeping track on Ollie and his behavior with some of the other students. The principal is going to have a field day with you young man." She then grabs ahold of his collar and lifts him up off his feet, "Hey! Put me down!"
Shade stares in awe from how the woman lifted the kid up with ease, "Dang girl, you hang around the gym downtown?" The teacher smiles, "That I do. Maybe later we can discuss what days we head there. But for now, I have to deal with this troublemaker first."
She then walks away and Shade returns to the snack table where the others were. Ignis held his hands down behind his back and tried to stay oblivious. The kitsune snaps her fingers, "Hey, big guy. Look at me." Not wanting to instigate her wrath, Ignis obeys and looks down at the kitsune. "My little girl said something about you trying to eat her brother. Is this true?"
Ignis gulps as he knew he was next, "Erm... yes ma'am." There was a strong air of silence between the two as she burned a hole into his soul with her eyes, "Salt, pepper, lemongrass, and a nice drizzle of garlic sauce." She then pulls her left hand up to gesture her eyes to his.
Vinny looked at her for a moment, but feared to know the real answer to why she said that. Kevin then saunters up next to Shade, "So... you know, older women are kinda my thing. If you catch my drift." He winks before adjusting his collar. The kitsune turns her gaze to the goat, and in dead response, "Talk to my wife first kid. I'm not open." He blinks before smiling, "Married women, are also kinda my thing."
Ignis walks behind Kevin and raises a fist to pound it on his head again, knocking him to the floor. Shade looks down at the goat as he looked dazed, "You have some... interesting people for classmates." The lizard reaches down and grabs ahold of Kevin's legs before dragging him away.
Vinny sighs in relief with the three bullies away from him. Shade then reaches up to his face to caress it, "Sweetie, if you were having issues at school, why didn't you tell me or your mother? Lulu was the one who told me about your little predator there after I had to pick her up from detention."
Telma sighs before petting his head, "Probably because the dork doesn't want to make it seem like that big of a deal. Which fell hard, didn't it?" Shade looks at the hawk before back at her son, "Vinny. Look, hiding behind closed doors won't get you far. Sometimes you need to open them."
The mouse grabs ahold of his mother's hands to pull them down, "Which is why I never told either of you. I was afraid on how you would react." Closing her eyes, Shade understood what he meant. They did have to have a talk due to her and the rest of the family being included in history books now from recent years. "Honey, now you're just being silly." Opening her eyes and pulling him into a hug, "Your aunt and I aren't going to fly off the handle over something so trivial. And even if so, what kind of mother would I be if you were to be a punching bag to others?"
She releases him from the hug and held onto his hands, "Now, how about another dance?" Vinny waits a moment before nodding. Telma watches as the two walk back over to the dance floor and a slow song started playing.
Vinny started to feel uneasy all of a sudden as he held onto Shade's arms. She walks him around slowly in tune, "Sweetie, you are aware what kind of song this is, right?" The kitsune gestures with her head at other couples, who were holding onto each other closer. The mouse gulps but is pulled in closer by his mother.
She then whispers in his right ear, "If it helps, you can pretend this once that I am not your mother. Treat me how you want to treat a person you like. Be yourself hun." His heart beat wildly at her words. Closing his eyes, Vinny focuses on thinking on who he wanted her to be. Their footsteps matched well as he began following the rhythm.
As the song progresses, Vinny was racking his mind a bit. He was unsure who to think of at this point as his nerves were a bit fried. This was when he opened his eyes and he stared directly into his mother's eyes. He had not realized his face was very close to hers. The smell of her lavender soap lingered in her fur. It was comforting to him.
And in that moment, without thinking. He leans forward and locks her into a kiss. Shade pauses for a moment before realizing she was kissing her own son passionately. Pulling back for a moment, she leans her head against his forehead, "What was that for Vinny?" He thinks over it for a moment, unsure of what to say. "Uh... heat of the moment?"
She let's out a chuckle before her right eye catches a glimpse at Telma. That is when the song ends and she seperates from him. "Wait here." The kitsune walks over to the hawk, who was now attempting to not make eye contact with her. "Telma." Hearing how her tone was, she reluctantly looks at the kitsune. "No need to be jealous. He's all yours." As she passes by the hawk, she whispers near her, "Treat my boy well, you hear? He deserves it."
Shade then walks out towards the exit of the gymnasium. Telma looks back to the kitsune before shaking her head and walking out to Vinny. A new song begins in a more upbeat mood, "So Vinny, still got some energy in you?" Suddenly feeling comfortable with everything, the mouse nods.
Midnight
Once the prom ended, Shade and Vinny drove home to cap off the night together. The light in the living room was still on and the two were greeted with Melissa sitting on the couch with a book in her hands, dressed in a pink nightgown. The redheaded mouse looks up and closes the book before tossing it aside on the couch. "Well there's my special boy and my love." She gets up from her spot and is greeted with a kiss from Shade, "So, how'd it all go? Turn some heads, did you?"
Vinny closes the front door behind him, "I wouldn't exactly say turning some heads, but my classmates were thrilled to see mother there." Melissa smiles before reaching over to hug her son and rub his head, "See? What did Shade and I tell you? Everything is going to be fine."
Shade sits herself down on the couch and reaches behind her to undo a zipper. A snapping sound is heard as her bra ends up catching in the zipper and pops out of place, "Crap. Knew that would happen eventually." Melissa lets go of Vinny and reaches behind Shade's back and fishes around her dress before gripping her bra straps, "Okay, try now."
Vinny watches as both her mothers unzip the dress, only to hear another snap. Melissa pulls her hand up and two metal hooks were in her palm. "Well, there goes that one." Shade relaxes back against the couch, "Ah, it's fine. I think I'll stick to not wearing one." The female mouse in the room smirks before tossing the hooks onto the coffee table and wraps her hands around her wife's breasts. "So do I."
Shade feels a kiss plant against her neck and it makes her shiver, "Melissa, this can wait until tomorrow. Besides, Vinny is still in the room." Melissa looks up and behind the couch, but saw nobody. "What do you mean?"
The young mouse has scurried off to his room, his face felt flushed as he closed the door quietly. ("Wow. Mom not wearing a bra. She felts soft already enough, I wonder how it is underneath her dress?") Vinny thinks back at that moment where he locked lips with his mother, something about that moment hit harder than ever. He quickly slaps himself in the face. ("What the hell am I thinking!? That's my mother I'm thinking about!")
As he battles with his own thoughts, the mouse gets himself out of the tuxedo and hangs it against the chair near his desk. The next thing he did was flop into his bed. The only thing on his mind besides the new brewing thoughts of his mother, was sleep.
