----- Appearance Andres Santos is a man of Puerto Rican descent, standing 6'1" with short, spiky black hair, light tan skin, and a lean, muscular build. He is usually seen in casual clothes — most often a gray tank top, blue jeans, and sneakers. He occasionally wears the Puerto Rican flag as either a shirt or hoodie. His eyes are light hazel but shift to a yellow-orange glow whenever he becomes enraged.
As Dr. Flame, he grows a few inches taller. His skin turns jet-black with a texture resembling obsidian. His head, hands, and feet are wreathed in fire, forming a natural hooded cloak, gloves, and boots made of living flame. His eyes become completely white, and he normally lacks a mouth — though he can form one when needed.
----- Backstory Andres Santos was the second-oldest son of the Santos family: his late older brother Damian, his late mother Maria, and his infamous father, “Jefe Loco” Santos. The family operated using brutal cartel tactics mixed with alchemy to obtain power and influence. Andres was expected to inherit leadership after his father’s death. Repulsed by his father’s cruelty, he instead lived on the streets — fighting, breaking into properties for thrills, and chasing women — anything to avoid the life prepared for him.
During his youth he met Angelina Estevez, defending her from schoolyard bullies. He admired her defiant independence, and the two became close despite their very different upbringings. After a rave incident in which her father caused her mutation, Angelina left him.
Andres continued his reckless and endearing lifestyle until he learned his father had been murdered — locals blaming a rival witch. Rather than mourn, he returned home and discovered a hidden room. Inside, he found severed inhuman hands preserved in a sealed jar. Upon touching them, he gained fire powers — and a demon began living inside his mind.
He initially used his powers for fame and attention, trying to become a hero mainly for popularity and women. His inexperience caused repeated failures, and eventually the town drove him out.
Soon after, he received a letter from the Governor of California inviting him to San Diego to join a new superhero licensing program as one of its premiere heroes. He named himself:
----- “The Fire Master: Doctor Flame” — choosing “Doctor” simply because he thought it sounded cool (inspired by Dr. DRE.) There he reunited with Angelina, now the hero Lion-Gal, assigned as his “Super Buddy” to keep him under control — with mixed success. Andres embraced the fame, glamour, and opportunistic lifestyle of being an American superhero. (The cartel connection also ties into Santa Muerte worship and the occult themes surrounding the family.)
----- Personality Andres is blunt, womanizing, mischievous, brash, and charismatic. He loves fights, flirting, partying, and showboating for the public.
In private he is more relaxed, aloof, and sometimes short-tempered. He prefers simple views of life and resists change. His pride pushes his stubbornness to extreme levels until he proves himself right.
Despite his goofiness, he is highly street-smart and reads people easily — especially lies and hidden motives.
He has a harsh but genuine soft spot for children, often dropping everything to help them because he remembers his own traumatic childhood. He can also be strict, loudly scolding them when they behave dangerously.
He loves pranks, wordplay jokes, and theatrical lying, capable of full “Telenovela” styled performances to manipulate situations. Many fall for it — except a few perceptive people, especially Angelina.
He aggressively flirts with nearly any attractive woman he notices, yet he is also a sincere hopeless romantic. He goes to great lengths even for women he barely knows: flowers, gifts, and elaborate dates.
Beneath the bravado, Andres is a lost boy trying to become the opposite of his father while unintentionally copying his mannerisms — lying, temper, and womanizing. He fears he may become his father. He truly loves Angelina but believes he is bad for her, though dreams of a future daughter with her motivate him to change.
----- Powers and Fighting Style The demon possessing Andres is Careta, a being that feeds on intense emotions — lust, anger, and conflict. Careta is a Red Fire demon, part of the three subspecies within the Spectrum of Fire, an alchemical energy source used by fire-wielding mystics throughout history. Fire Abilities Andres can:
• Manipulate heat
• Generate fire blasts, waves, spheres, lassos, and constructs
• Grow stronger when angry
• Prevent his flames from harming those he emotionally cares about when calm
He can absorb fire or heat to power himself. At peak output, his flames approach supernova-level energy (localized, not astronomical). His control is precise enough to shave a criminal's mustache as intimidation. Once, while drunk, he superheated his bloodstream to burn toxins out of his body.
His fire also reduces his body weight, allowing flight at speeds exceeding Mach 3. The demon grants a healing factor capable of recovering from near-fatal injuries, though severe damage can take 2–3 days to heal. He cannot regenerate from decapitation or suffocation.
He also possesses heightened reflexes (able to dodge point-blank gunfire) and demonic strength — capable of bench-pressing roughly 4 tons.
----- Spectrum of Fire Mythology
• Red Fire — fueled by raw emotion; most common and base level strength.
• Blue Fire — fueled by calm focus; hotter and stronger but harms the user.
• White Fire — fueled by enlightenment; most powerful but shortens the user’s lifespan.
All users have accelerated metabolism and must eat enormous amounts of food.
----- Fire Techniques
• Fireball / Fire Blast
• Fire Fists
• Fire Barrier
• Flame Sword
• Flame Lasso
• Flame Cuffs
----- Hand-to-Hand Combat Without powers, Andres is still dangerous. He is self-taught in bare-knuckle boxing, street fighting, and lucha libre. His hometown considers him undefeated.
His punches alone can dislocate jaws and tear punching bags. He fights unpredictably and cheats if necessary — baiting disqualifications or provoking opponents into mistakes.
A die-hard pro-wrestling fan, he favors grappling and suplexes (German, overhead belly-to-belly, belly-to-back) and uses submissions such as the Dragon Hold, Sharpshooter, and Regal Stretch. He combines these with heavy strikes like a clothesline and fast combination punches.
----- Weaknesses
• Water (excessive amounts)
• Lack of oxygen
• Decapitation
• Separation from Careta (reverts to human; healed wounds reopen and may cause a coma)
• Angelina and Tony (emotional vulnerability)
• Magic
Light Magic — holy artifacts, biblical forces, and fae energy weaken him. Occult Magic — can allow a summoner to fully control him as Careta takes over.
