I'm really fed up with people telling me that Swifty the shrew from that godforsaken Sonic Boom season 1 episode 28 Blue with Envy (more like Green with Envy or the Biggest Bully in town because Swifty never actually made Sonic jealous at all. Both Swifty and the Episode itself are jealous.) is a robot (when really he is not.) or a parody or prepesentation of Classic Sonic from the 90s like AOSTH and video games or a parody of a cool dude. He's such a bad parody that is he is not even a parody. He is more of a self insert OC written by a bratty kid with a severe attitude problems with severely fragile ego that is easily bruised.
Whenever I express my anger and hatred towards that green idiot by drawing him being injured and even humilated of pointing or telling how I feel about him and the episode. They had the balls to tell me he's being a robot by Eggman and so called explain the intentions and motives of the episode, telling me my hatred towards Swifty making no sense and uneccesary, telling me to downplay all of his jerkiness all the way through the episode, telling me to channel my hatred towards Eggman instead of Eggman really shows that they dont understand to take my opinions well because my opinions are different and contradict what the articles, plot summary, TV tropes, Wikipedias like fandom wikias say. They also had a weird and backhanded ways to dismiss my critiscism towards the episode and Swifty himself. They think they are trying to help me understand the episode when really they're only fuelling the fire and made me feel much worse. This is why I'm losing my shit everytime they tell me "he's a robot" or "that's the point. You're supposed to hate him. He's the enemy. The writers did a good job at making Swifty annoying and obnoxious". The writers did a lousy job at writing the episode and Swifty. They tried to tell me that I have no right to criticise him and try to tell me to let all of his jerkiness slide. And telling me that "he's a robot." and very immune to bad writing. And telling that there is no such thing as poorly written villains, obnoxious and annoying characters, Which is really condescending. Like, why is it okay to crititcize poorly written heroes and protaginists. Why is is not okay to criticize poorly written villains and antagonists. Plus, Saying "Good thing he's a robot" is really backhanded. I do not buy he's a robot by Eggman. Yes. Doctor Eggman is a villain but he is a fun villain. Swifty never reflects Eggman. PERIOD! It feels like the episode is too cowardly to show swifty suffer serious consequences for his actions tot he audiences. The episode would do anything to give Swifty easy ways out and protect his already bruised ego.
Look, even characters that are meant to be bullying, obnoxious jerks and villains but they are not immune to bad writing. And a line needs to be drawn. So, Swifty totally deserves to be harshly criticized
I read the TV Tropes, Wikias and reviews of Swifty and the episode act like Swifty is being successful, step ahead of Sonic, faster than Sonic and managing to beat him in a race and winning the bet and made Sonic jealous when really it was all bullshit even before that shitty and unconvincing plot twist came along. And I read some character descriptions of those websites in question and some are not convincing. Actions speak louder than words.
The script of the episode thinks Swifty has earned his popularity, win people's hearts including Sonic's friends and made Sonic jealous because it thinks he's supercool and everything and thinks Sonic is beaing a petty, insecure jerk, letting his ego take over and being whiny and bitchy, failing to beat him when really it's bullshit because it never clearifies anything. All Swifty does is bullying and harrasses everyone around him, being a disgusting, abusive, vandal and being an idiot that has an ego that is so over the mountain. He sucks at being a fake hero and a trickster. The only person he manages to manipulate is himself. He doesnt even try to his his jerkiness not just to the audience but also the characters around him yet the episode doesnt even recognize that.
Yes, the Sonic Boom TV show is a comedy series that is not meant to be taken seriously. But that episode is just plain awful. So toxic and has no redeemable qualities at all. The show is so much better than this turd of an episode.
This episode is worth harshly criticising. Even more so than Sonic Boom games. They may be flawed but at least they're not made out of narcissism and middle finger.
And the characters seem to break the fourth wall even without the episode being aware of this by showing that they dont wanna be in the episode, being deeply uncomfortable with Swifty's presence and the episode's direction. Their dialoges and smiles are so fake and sarcastic. The voice actors sound so tired behind the microphone. Like they dont wanna be in that episode. Not even Eggman can stand this green idiot. The statue that tries to be a parody of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse statue of Disneyland. But the statue looks like Eggman really wants to get away from Swifty. So I dont buy Eggman is behind all this. The script is too cowardly to show Swifty suffer from severe consequences for his red flag behavior and wants to protect his already damaged ego and even tries to hide it.
The episode really insists that Swifty is more sucessful and cool and tries to make Sonic jealous and look like a fool and Swifty wins no matter what. No matter what Sonic wins the bet. The script wanna make Swifty look like a winner and banish Sonic standing up agaisnt a bully like Swifty and for bruising both the fragile egos of Swifty and the episode. It show they are the worst case of sore losers in the world. Oversensitive than a toddler. Plus the council thing is fake too. Even the mayor and all the other characters know Sonic wins the bet and beats Swifty in a race but the script forces them to do what it says or it will be worse for them. To more the episode tries to make Sonic jealous of Swifty. The more other way around it shows. Swifty never wins them over. Tails did not wanna bond with Swifty nor did any of Sonic's freidns or the people idolize that creep. And Amy and Sticks did not fall or gush over him for bullying Sonic by blinding him with a rocket sparkle, gluing him and threw a net onto him. The scene where he fed Amy with that burger is just plain creepy and disgusting rather than funny or romantic Yet the episode romantize all of his creepy behaviour. He never earns the glory. Just spoiled rotten. And yet people complain Disney's Beauty and the Beast 1991 romanticizing Stockholm Syndrome when reality the film never does that.
The episode has no real plot whatsover. No self awareness Not even solid one nor a strong one. Just a bad fanfiction written by a spoiled brat with serious attitude issues and insecurity issues. Yet the wikias, reviews and TV Tropes even acts like it's important and key plot to the series. It shows that the episode comes off as heavily overplayed.
My hatred towards Swifty and make him suffer severe karma I gave him makes many perfect sense than what the defender said. Even though those comments where almost a decade old and I dont know if their opinions are changed or not. But those comments still hurt and really rub me the wrong way. Saying "it's enjoyable that Swifty has totally had Sonic get over the edge" (especially to my face) is never really funny. It's just mean spirited, callous, nasty and sad.
