I imagine Angel has quite some experience and enjoys working with hair, feathers and general "skin"care - maybe that's just me projecting my hairdressing past onto him though.
In my mind he's capable of some basic grooming techniques at least. In all his time doing shows and films, I imagine he's enjoyed the brief break from Val's scrutiny when he was helping co-stars with their own faces and hair/dos in his breaks. Rather than lounging around and attracting Val's attention.
