900 years of armor development, as demonstrated by Ziggy.
I tried to hit the high points of major armor developments and changes while picking armors that all looked fairly unique. Vendel feeds Viking/Hastings era, but does not change dramatically. 13thC sees coat of plates appear, but you can just add some dots to the front of the tabard in your head. It's not until the 14th-15thC before armor really starts changing wildly.
I omitted classical armors because I figured 1000 years is enough, but maybe I'll do this for Roman and earlier as well.
