Yes. I do have to say it.
A year ago I was sunk so low I truly felt there was no more point to making any sort of protest any longer. Why do anything when it never seems to make any difference? Now I can only say "Because it's right."
I speak a lot with my dad, who was a Civil Rights and antiwar activist in the '60s. Now, after 50+ years as a DC lawyer, his personal feeling is that the next few years will be shaped not by the courts or congress as much as the people behind 'No Kings' and the people out in the streets in Minneapolis. For someone with his level of experience that's a big statement to make.
At a concert I went to recently I think the performer said it best - "What do you do when showing up isn't enough? Show up anyway."
Enough said.
