Carnwenhau: Also simply called “white hilt” for the off-colored, rune carved handle, is a dagger said to have been responsible for the death of a powerful witch known as Orddu. Carnwenhau is a mythical blade hailed as a cursed weapon wielded by King Arthur himself. As one rite of passage to show resourcefulness, historical knowledge and awareness; every member of the Umbra Claw Unit are put through a trial known as “Lustrare Tenebrae” (explore our darkness) in which they uncover an ancient weapon of power. This weapon is then bound to the being which discovered the weapon through a ritual, until the wielder has passed.
After much research, Karma embarked on a journey when he was only 10 to uncover the mystery behind a fabled cursed blade capable of vanquishing a great witch. As with many decisions Karma has made in his lifetime, this choice in a potentially dangerous weapon is shrouded. Perhaps he wishes to use it as a form of self-discipline: To defeat this blade he must defeat his own darkness. The boy could possibly use this powerful weapon as a tool of strength to defeat his greatest of foes. Maybe Karma plans to use this to escape what he has become. Or maybe, Karma was drawn to this weapon.
Regardless of his reasoning, Karma cherishes this blade and yet he is reluctant to use it. This ancient and powerful dagger, said to be a gift from the gods, carries a strange link to a gem on Karma’s collar he often keeps hidden. Few close to him have said to hear whispers in their sleep, as if this blade calls them in their dreams, driving them to madness.
