It seems like the mother is also somewhat independent, but there's got to be something that could be done to help. I would think maybe some other way to keep the mother's core charged without the Everfree's ambient magic. It would likely be a rather hard task to take care of, moreso since it's not like Discord is easily reachable, or hard to get along with if your name isn't Fluttershy.
