I have a retrofuture setting where physical media came back after a massive collapse of the internet called "The Blackout." Everything comes on cartridges about the size of old tape cassettes since miniaturization still is a thing. Movies on home video are like DVDs with all sorts of special features. Now they've all pretty much gone away in the flood of digital media.

A few weeks ago, my friend and I ate lunch at a local mall and afterwards I decided to check out the old toy and game stores I used to visit when I was a kid. It really hits you in the gut seeing a place you've been to countless times as a kid shut down, or turned into a different franchise. Nostalgic and bittersweet in one

This is why I'm going back to the pre-hard drive days of gaming. I don't need new games, I need games. And I don't mind wesring an eyepatch and pegleg to get them.
